Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Americans, Hostel, Cabin Fever) has been hired to score the upcoming supernatural horror movie The Turning. The film is directed by Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways) and stars Mackenzie Davis, Finn Wolfhard, Brooklynn Prince and Joely Richardson. The Amblin Entertainment production is based on Henry James’s novella The Turn of the Screw and follows a young woman hired as the nanny to two orphans is convinced that the country mansion they live in is haunted. Chad & Carey Hayes (The Conjuring) wrote the original screenplay with revisions by Jade Bartlett. Scott Bernstein (Straight Outta Compton) and Roy Lee (It, The LEGO Movie) are producing the project. Steven Spielberg serves as an executive producer. Barr has previously scored last year’s The House with a Clock in Its Walls for Amblin. The Turning is set to be released on January 24, 2020 by Universal Pictures.

Barr also has the Amazon original series Carnival Row coming up. The composer also continues to score AMC’s The Son (returning for its second and final season on April 24) and Amazon’s Sneaky Pete (returning for its third season later this year).
