Composer Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, A River Runs Through It, The Accountant, Little Fires Everywhere, Miracle) is reteaming with director Mark Williams on the upcoming thriller Blacklight. The film starring Liam Neeson & Tim Draxl revolves around a Government agent who specializes in pulling operatives whose covers have been exposed and uncovers a deadly conspiracy within his own ranks. Williams also wrote the screenplay based on an earlier version by Nick May. The director is also producing the project with Paul Currie (Hacksaw Ridge, 2:22) and Mark Nestel (Laggies).

Mark Mothersbaugh Scoring Netflix’s ‘America: The Motion Picture’
Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The Royal Tenenbaums, Hotel Transylvania, The Croods: A New Age) has recently scored the new Netflix original film America: The Motion Picture. The movie is directed by Matt Thompson (Archer, Cake) and features the voice talent of Channing Tatum, Jason Mantzoukas, Olivia Munn, Andy Samberg, Bobby Moynihan, Judy Greer, Will Forte, Killer Mike, Raoul Trujillo and Simon Pegg. The animated comedy follows a chainsaw-wielding George Washington who teams with beer-loving bro Sam Adams to take down the Brits.
Geoff Zanelli Scoring Sam Macaroni’s ‘Blackout’
Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Disturbia, The Intruder, Christopher Robin) is currently recording his score for the upcoming action thriller Blackout. The film is directed by Sam Macaroni (Guest House) and stars Josh Duhamel, Abbie Cornish, Nick Nolte and Omar Chaparro. The movie revolves around a man who wakes up in a Mexican hospital with no memory and – when he discovers who he is – finds himself fighting for his life as several warring cartel factions attack him, each looking for something he has stolen. Van B. Nguyen wrote the screenplay.
Kogonada’s ‘After Yang’ to Feature Music by Ryuichi Sakamoto & Aska Matsumiya
Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Revenant, Little Buddha) & Aska Matsumiya (Skate Kitchen, I’m Your Woman, Selah and the Spades, 37 Seconds) have composed the original music for the upcoming sci-fi drama After Yang. Sakamoto has contributed the film’s theme, which has been released as part of the composer’s vinyl box set 2020S earlier this year. Matsumiya has composed the score for the movie written and directed by Kogonada (Columbus) and starring Colin Farrell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Justin Min, Sarita Choudhury, Haley Lu Richardson and Clifton Jones, Jr.. The drama is based on the short story Saying Goodbye to Yang by Alexander Weinstein and tells the story of a father and daughter as they try to save the life of their robotic family member.
Daniel Pemberton to Score DreamWorks Animation’s ‘The Bad Guys’
Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Birds of Prey, Enola Holmes, Steve Jobs) has been tapped to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature The Bad Guys. The film directed by Pierre Perifel (Bilby) is based on Aaron Blabey’s best-selling Scholastic book series of the same name and follows five notorious bad guys who’ve been behind big heists – Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula – as they attempt their most challenging job yet…going good.
Jim Williams Scoring Julia Ducournau’s ‘Titane’
Altitude Films has announced that composer Jim Williams (Possessor, Sightseers, Beast, Kill List, A Field in England) is reteaming with director Julia Ducournau on the upcoming French horror thriller Titane. The film is written and directed by Ducournau and stars Agathe Rousselle, Vincent Lindon, Laïs Salameh and Garance Marillier. The movie revolves around a father who is reunited with his son who disappeared ten years ago following a series of unexplained crimes. Jean-Christophe Reymond (Arab Blues, Neither Heaven nor Earth) is producing the project for Kazak Productions.
Joel P West Scoring Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’
Joel P West has recently been recording his score for Marvel Studios’ upcoming feature Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng. The movie follows the title character who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. Cretton also co-wrote the screenplay with David Callaham (Wonder Woman 1984, The Expendables) and Andrew Lanham (The Shack). Kevin Feige (Avengers, Black Panther, Iron Man) and Jonathan Schwartz are producing the project.
Joseph Bishara Scoring John R. Leonetti’s ‘Lullaby’
Composer Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious, The Curse of La Llorona, Dark Skies, The Unholy) is reuniting with director John R. Leonetti (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Wish Upon) on the upcoming horror movie Lullaby. The film starring Oona Chaplin & Ramon Rodriguez tells the story of a new mother who discovers a lullaby in an ancient book and soon regards the song as a blessing, but her world transforms into a nightmare when the lullaby brings forth the ancient demon Lilith. Alex Greenfield & Ben Powell (The Sand) wrote the screenplay.

Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Royal Tenenbaums) is returning as the composer of the upcoming animated sequel Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. The film is directed by Jennifer Kluska & Derek Drymon (The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Adventure Time) and features the voices of Selena Gomez (who also serves as an executive producer), Andy Samberg, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Brian Hull, Brad Abrell, Asher Blinkoff, Fran Drescher, Jim Gaffigan and Molly Shannon. The final chapter in the film series follows Drac and his monster pals as the are all transformed into humans, and Johnny becomes a monster. Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack) who helmed the previous three movies wrote the screenplay with Amos Vernon & Nunzio Randazzo based on a story by himself.

The film is directed by Rob Minkoff (The Lion King, Stuart Little) & Mark Koetsier and stars Michael Cera, Samuel L. Jackson, Ricky Gervais, George Takei, Michelle Yeoh, Djimon Hounsou and Mel Brooks.The movie is based on Brooks’ classic Blazing Saddles and tells the story of a loveable mutt with big dreams of becoming a samurai who finds himself with a new job as sheriff of a town that is inhabited solely by cats.
