Alexandre Desplat to Reteam with Greta Gerwig on ‘Barbie’
Composer Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Queen, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) is set to reteam with director Greta Gerwig on the upcoming comedy Barbie. The film based on the Mattel property stars Margot Robbie in the role, alongside Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey and America Ferrera. No plot details have been announced yet. Gerwig (Lady Bird) also co-wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story, The Squid and the Whale).

The movie is directed by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre (The Mustang) and stars Emma Corrin, Jack O’Connell, Joely Richardson, Matthew Duckett, Faye Marsay and Ella Hunt. The drama is based on the classic D.H. Lawrence novel of the same name and tells the story of a woman born to a life of wealth and privilege, who soon finds herself married to a man that she eventually falls out of love with and engages in a torrid affair with a gamekeeper on their English estate.
