SoundWorks Collection has published a video profile on the sound and music of Disney’s animated feature Wreck-It-Ralph. The video features interviews with composer Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Puss in Boots), as well as sound re-recording mixers David Fluhr & Gary Rizzo and supervising sound editor Frank Eulner. ‘Skyfall’ Recording Sessions
Sony Pictures Belgium has published a short video from the recording sessions of the score for the latest James Bond film Skyfall. The video features footage of the film’s composer Thomas Newman conducting the orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London, as well as the composer talking about his first score for the Bond series. Check out the full video after the jump. Since our last update, more audio clips from the Skyfall soundtrack album have appeared online and can be checked out here. As previously reported, the soundtrack will released overseas on October 29, 2012 and in the US on November 6 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
Hans Zimmer Composes New Theme for ‘ABC World News’
Hans Zimmer has composed a new theme for ABC World News. It was the first time the music has been updated since the year 2000. The program anchored by Diane Sawyer on weekdays and by David Muir on weekends also debuted a new logo, graphics package in addition to the updated music this week. ‘Frankenweenie’ Scoring Sessions
A video from the scoring sessions of Tim Burton’s stop-motion animated film Frankenweenie was published this week and shows footage from the recording sessions in London earlier this year with composer Danny Elfman and Burton in attendance. Check out the video after the jump. Also embedded below is a short interview with the composer about the scoring process, his themes for the film and his collaboration with the director. Frankenweenie features the voices of Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Winona Ryder and follows a pet dog who is brought back to life by his loyal owner after it is struck by a car. The soundtrack featuring Elfman’s score is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, September 25 by Walt Disney Records. Click here for the full album details.
Sean Callery on Creating the Main Title Music for ‘Homeland’
Sean Callery has recently received his 12th Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Main Title Theme Music category for his opening titles music for Showtime’s critically acclaimed original series Homeland. Check out an exclusive video with the Emmy-winning composer of such hit shows as 24 and Bones talking about creating the jazz-influenced music for the title sequence and his musical approach for the series’ opening theme after the jump. Homeland executive produced by Howard Gordon & Alex Gansa and starring Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, Morena Baccarin, David Harewood, Diego Klattenhoff, Jackson Pace, Morgan Saylor and Mandy Patinkin has received a total of nine Emmy Award nominations.

In the 9-minute video, composer Hans Zimmer and supervising sound editor and sound designer Richard King talk about their work on the final chapter in Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Moby Records New Version of ‘Extreme Ways’ for ‘The Bourne Legacy’
Spinner has published a short video from the recording sessions of a new version of Moby‘s song Extreme Ways for Tony Gilroy’s action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The track was partly recorded with a 110-piece orchestra with the help of composers James Newton Howard (who also composed the film’s score) and Joseph Trapanese (Tron: Uprising). Check out the video after the jump. The new version of Extreme Ways, as well as as purely orchestral version of the track has just been released digitally and can be downloaded on Amazon. The soundtrack for The Bourne Legacy featuring the song and James Newton Howard’s score is now available digitally on iTunes from Back Lot Music and will be released on CD on August 7 by Varese Sarabande.
John Williams on NBC’s Rock Center
Last night, NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams featured a segment on composer John Williams. During the interview, the composer who turned 80 earlier this year talks about his composing methods and his own favorite scores for director Steven Spielberg. Williams also performs NBC’s The Mission news theme on the piano. Check out a 4-minute version from the segment, which was published on NBCNews.com after the jump.
Lucas Vidal to Score Steve Jobs Biopic
Lucas Vidal has started to work on the music for the upcoming biopic jOBS. The drama stars Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs and covers the iconic Silicon Valley visionary from his early years as an impressionable youth and wayward hippie, through his initial successes and infamous ousting, to his storybook return and ultimate triumphs as a man who set out to change the world and did just that. The film is directed by Joshua Michael Stern and co-stars Josh Gad (Love and Other Drugs) as Apple co-founder Steve Woznikak and Matthew Modine will be portraying John Sculley, Apple’s CEO from 1983 to 1993. Dermot Mulroney, Ahna O’Reilly, Ron Eldard, John Getz, Lesley Ann Warren and James Woods are also starring in the drama. Matt Whiteley has written the screenplay and Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Russell Carpenter (Titanic) is also involved in the project.
Hans Zimmer at ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ European Premiere
Hans Zimmer attended today’s European premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises at Leicester Square in London. Red Carpet News TV caught the composer on the red carpet and talked to him about his music and process of scoring the final installment in Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Zimmer also discusses the chance of a sequel to Inception and his involvement in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Check out the full video interview after the jump.
