Three new studio features are opening nationwide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the action thriller The Bourne Legacy directed and co-written by Tony Gilroy and starring Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Albert Finney, Scott Glenn, David Strathairn and Joan Allen. The film’s score is composed by James Newton Howard. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a new version of Moby’s track Extreme Ways has been released on Back Lot Music and Varese Sarabande. Also opening wide is the political comedy The Campaign directed by Jay Roach and starring Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, Jason Sudekis, Brian Cox, Dylan McDermott, Sarah Baker, Katherine LaNasa, Dan Akroyd and John Lithgow. The film’s score is composed by Theodore Shapiro who previously worked with Roach on the comedy Dinner for Schmucks and this year’s HBO drama Game Change. A soundtrack album was set to be released by WaterTower Music as listed in the film’s credits, but no announcement has been made yet. Moby Records New Version of ‘Extreme Ways’ for ‘The Bourne Legacy’

Spinner has published a short video from the recording sessions of a new version of Moby‘s song Extreme Ways for Tony Gilroy’s action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The track was partly recorded with a 110-piece orchestra with the help of composers James Newton Howard (who also composed the film’s score) and Joseph Trapanese (Tron: Uprising). Check out the video after the jump. The new version of Extreme Ways, as well as as purely orchestral version of the track has just been released digitally and can be downloaded on Amazon. The soundtrack for The Bourne Legacy featuring the song and James Newton Howard’s score is now available digitally on iTunes from Back Lot Music and will be released on CD on August 7 by Varese Sarabande.

‘The Bourne Legacy’ Soundtrack Preview

Cinema Musica has published audio clips from all tracks on the soundtrack release for Tony Gilroy’s action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The album features the film’s score composed by James Newton Howard who previously collaborated with the director on Michael Clayton and Duplicity. Also included is a new version of Moby’s Extreme Ways, which is used again in the end credits as in the previous films in the series. Check out the audio clips embedded aftet the jump. Varese Sarabande Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for Tony Gilroy’s action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The album features the film’s original score composed by James Newton Howard. Also included is a new version of Moby’s song Extreme Ways, which has been featured in all of the previous three films in the Bourne series. The soundtrack will be released on July 31, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article in a couple of weeks. The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Albert Finney, Scott Glenn and Joan Allen will be released on August 10, 2012 by Universal Pictures.

Varese Sarabande to Release ‘The Bourne Legacy’ Soundtrack

Varese Sarabande Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for Tony Gilroy’s action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The album features the film’s original score composed by the director’s regular musical collaborator James Newton Howard. Also included is a new version of Moby’s song Extreme Ways, which has been featured in the previous three installments in the Bourne series. The soundtrack will be released on July 31, 2012. The full album details are expected to be revealed in a couple of weeks. The label has previously released the soundtracks for The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy, both of which featured music by John Powell. The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Albert Finney, Scott Glenn and Joan Allen will be released on August 3, 2012 by Universal Pictures.

James Newton Howard Video Interview

Go See Talk has published a 30-minutes video conversation with James Newton Howard that was shot last week in Dallas, where he conducted the Dallas Symphony Orchestra on his first full concert of his film work for The Masters of Film Music series. During the interview, the composer talks about his background and his first film score, his work methods and why he did not come back to score The Dark Knight Rises after his collaboration with Hans Zimmer on the first two scores for Christopher Nolan’s Batman series. He also hints about what to expect from the upcoming The Bourne Legacy score and whether or not he will be incorporating any of John Powell’s material from the previous Bourne films. Newton Howard has just recently finished writing and recording the score for the highly anticipated movie adaptation of The Hunger Games, for which he wrote roughly 80 minutes of music in about four weeks. James Newton Howard has been tapped to score the action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The film stars Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton and Stacy Keach. Albert Finney, Scott Glenn and Joan Allen are reprising their roles from the previous parts of the series. The project marks the composer’s first score for the franchise. The previous three installments have been scored by John Powell. The fourth Bourne movie is written and directed by Tony Gilroy who was involved as a writer on the previous movies in the series and has previously worked with Newton Howard on his first two directorial efforts Michael Clayton and Duplicity.
