Also premiering on Tuesday as part of Amazon’s new Welcome to the Blumhouse series is the sci-fi horror thriller Black Box directed by Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour and starring Mamoudou Athie, Phylicia Rashad, Amanda Christine, Tosin Morohunfola and Troy James. Brandon Roberts (The Twilight Zone, Underwater, Motherland: Fort Salem, Unbroken: Path to Redemption, The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death) has composed the film’s original music. The movie, which follows a single father who – after losing his wife and his memory in a car accident – undergoes an experimental treatment that causes him to question who he really is, will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime.
Also premiering as part of Welcome to the Blumhouse is the crime drama The Lie written and directed by Veena Sud and starring Peter Sarsgaard, Mireille Enos, Joey King, Cas Anvar, Devery Jacobs, Patti Kim and Nicholas Lea. The film’s original music is composed by Tamar-kali (Mudbound, Come Sunday, Shirley, The Assistant, The Last Thing He Wanted, John Lewis: Good Trouble).
