Premiering in the U.S. today is the mini-series War of the Worlds created by Howard Overman based on H.G. Wells’ novel of the same name and starring Gabriel Byrne, Elizabeth McGovern, Léa Drucker, Adel Bencherif, Emilie de Preissac, Natasha Little, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Ty Tennant. The show’s original music is composed by David Martijn (De Dag, The Twelve). The 8-parter, which follows a group of astronomers detect a transmission from another galaxy, premiered in Europe last fall, is making its U.S. debut on Epix. Also premiering tonight is the Fox animated comedy Duncanville created by Mike Scully, Julie Scully & Amy Poehler and starring Poehler herself, Ty Burrell, Riki Lindhome, Betsy Sodaro, Yassir Lester and Zach Cherry. John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, Dante’s Peak, Office Space, The Following, Beavis and Butthead Do America) is composing the show’s original music. Also premiering tonight is the third season of the NBC comedy drama Good Girls created by Jenna Bans and starring Christina Hendricks, Retta, Mae Whitman, Reno Wilson and Manny Montana. Drum & Lace (Dickinson, The Gospel According to André, The First Monday in May) and Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, Animals, My Blind Brother, A-X-L) are the new composers of the show. (Michael Penn scored the first couple of episodes and Lyle Workman has composed the music for the rest of the first two seasons). Another show premiering tonight following a special preview last month is the NBC comedy drama Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist created by Austin Winsberg and starring Jane Levy, Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, John Clarence Stewart, Peter Gallagher and Mary Steenburgen. The show’s original score is composed by Gabriel Mann (Modern Family, A Million Little Things, Rectify, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series). Premiering on Friday, February 21, is the Amazon original series Hunters created by David Weil and starring Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Lena Olin, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Greg Austin, and Dylan Baker. Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, National Treasure) is composing the show’s original music. Also premiering in the U.S. on Friday is the German drama System Crasher (Systemsprenger). written and directed by Nora Fingscheidt and starring Helena Zengel, Albrecht Schuch, Gabriela Maria Schmeide, Lisa Hagmeister and Melanie Straub. The film’s original music is composed by John Gürtler (Above and Below, The Council of Birds). recordJet and Paradox Paradise Berlin have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score.
