BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) announced today that Theodore Shapiro will be honored as a BMI Icon at the 2026 BMI Film, TV & Visual Media Awards on May 13 in Beverly Hills, CA. The Emmy Award- winning composer will be receiving this honor for his outstanding body of work in some of the most culturally defining films and TV series over the last 25 years. In addition to his music for Apple TV’s Severance, for which he received two Emmy Awards and an additional nomination for his main title theme, the composer’s scoring credits include the features The Devil Wears Prada (and its upcoming sequel), Dodgeball, 13 Going on 30, BombshellThe Eyes of Tammy Faye, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and, most recently, last year’s hit thriller The Housemaid. The BMI ceremony will be hosted by BMI CEO Mike O’Neill, BMI Executive Vice President, Chief Revenue & Creative Officer, Mike Steinberg, and BMI Vice President, Creative, Film, TV & Visual Media, Tracy McKnight and will also salute the composers of the previous year’s top-grossing films, top-rated primetime network television series, and highest-ranking cable and streamed media programs. Previous BMI Icon Award recipients include Terence Blanchard, Mychael Danna, Alexandre Desplat, Ramin Djawadi, Harry Gregson-Williams, James Newton Howard, Christopher Lennertz, Thomas Newman, Rachel Portman (PRS), Mike Post, Atticus Ross, Alan Silvestri, Brian Tyler and John Williams, among others.
