Will Bates is composing the original music for the new CBS medical drama Pure Genius. The show is created by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) and stars Dermot Mulroney, Augustus Prew, Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton and Brenda Song. The series revolves around a young Silicon Valley tech titan who enlists an exceptional veteran surgeon with a controversial past to run a state-of-the-art hospital with an ultramodern approach to medicine. Katims is also executive producing the Universal Television and CBS Television production with Michelle Lee and David Semel (Madam Secretary, Goliath) who also directed the pilot episode. Bates has previously scored the first season of the Katims- and Lee-produced Hulu original series The Path. Pure Genius will premiere tomorrow, October 27 and will air every Thursday night on CBS.
