Expected to top the weekend box office is the western The Magnificent Seven directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee and Peter Sarsgaard. Also opening wide is the animated feature Storks directed by Nicholas Stoller & Doug Sweetland and featuring the voices of Andy Samberg, Kelsey Grammer, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Katie Crown, Ty Burrell and Jennifer Aniston. Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Surf’s Up) and Jeff Danna (The Good Dinosaur) have composed the film’s original music. Opening in limited release before expanding nationwide next week is the drama Queen of Katwe directed by Mira Nair and starring David Oyelowo, Lupita Nyong’o and Madina Nalwanga. The film’s original music is composed by Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Roots, 11.22.63). Walt Disney Records has released two soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Back to Life by Alicia Keys, as well as tracks by MC Galaxy, A Pass, Bobi Wine & more. Also opening in select theaters is the Australian drama The Dressmaker co-written and directed by Jocelyn Moorehouse and starring Kate Winslet, Liam Hemsworth, Judy Davis, Hugo Weaving, Sarah Snook, Caroline Goodall and Sacha Horler. David Hirschfelder (Elizabeth, Shine, Australia, The Railway Man). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score was released last year when the movie opened in Australia. Also opening in limited release is the indie drama Goat directed by Andrew Neel and starring Ben Schnetzer, Nick Jonas, Gus Halper, Virginia Gardner, Jake Picking and James Franco. The film doesn’t have an original score and Josh Kessler served as the movie’s music supervisor. No soundtrack album has been announced. Goat follows a young man who is pledging his older brother’s fraternity following a violent assault that left him questioning his own manhood after he didn’t fight back. Another limited release this week is the indie drama Free the World written and directed by Jason Lew and starring Boyd Holbrook, Elisabeth Moss, Octavia Spencer and Sung Kang. Experimental music artist Tim Hecker has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie centers on a man struggling to adapt to life on the outside following his release from prison for and meets a mysterious woman with a violent past.
