Mychael Danna has recently scored the pilot for the Amazon Studios original series The Last Tycoon. The show is written and directed by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games) and stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer and Lily Collins. The drama is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s last work and follows Hollywood’s Golden Boy, Monroe Stahr as he battles father figure and boss, Pat Brady for the soul of their studio. Ray is also executive producing the TriStar Television production with Ray & Christopher Keyser (Tyrant, Party of Five), Joshua D. Maurer, Alixandre Witlin & David A. Stern (Rosemary’s Baby). Danna has previously scored Ray’s first two directorial efforts, Breach and Shattered Glass. The Last Tycoon will be available to stream starting tomorrow on Amazon and viewers will influence the decision whether the show will be picked up for a full season.
Danna’s upcoming features projects include Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and the animated feature Storks. He also continues to co-score FX’s Tyrant with his brother Jeff.
