Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Wreck-It-Ralph, Kong: Skull Island, Big Hero 6Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) is scoring the upcoming animated feature Smurfs. The film is directed by Chris Miller (Shrek the Third) and features the voices of Rihanna (who is also contributing original songs to the movie), James Corden, Nick Offerman, Daniel Levy, JP Karliak, Amy Sedaris, Sandra Oh, Kurt Russell, Natasha Lyonne, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Nick Kroll, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Xolo Maridueña, Billie Lourd, Marshmello and John Goodman. The movie follows Smurfette as she leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save Papa Smurf when he is mysteriously taken by evil wizards. Pam Brady (South Park, Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken) wrote the screenplay. Rihanna is also producing the Paramount Animation production with Jay Brown & Ty Ty Smith (Annie) and Ryan Harris (The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run). Jackman has previously collaborated with Miller on DreamWorks Animation’s 2011 original Puss in Boots movie. Smurfs will be released in theaters nationwide on July 18 by Paramount Pictures.

As previously reported, Jackman also has Grant Sputore’s Godzilla x Kong: Supernova (to be released in theaters on March 27, 2027) coming up.
