Christophe Beck has signed on to score the upcoming family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. The movie is directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Youth in Revolt) and stars Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Ed Oxenbould, Megan Mulally, Jennifer Coolidge and Bella Thorne. The movie is based on the 1972 illustrated children’s classic by Judith Viorst and follows a boy who has a very horrible day and finds out that other people can have them too. Rob Lieber has written the screenplay. Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel) is producing the 21 Laps Entertainment production with Dan Levine, alongside Lisa Henson, CEO of the Jim Henson Company. Beck has previously collaborated with Arteta on the director’s last movie Cedar Rapids and also scored numerous features for 21 Laps and Levy, including Date Night and last year’s The Internship. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is set to released on October 10, 2014 by Walt Disney Pictures.
As previously reported, Beck also has Doug Liman’s Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt coming up. The composer’s recent projects include Disney’s Frozen and Muppets Most Wanted, both of which are currently playing in theaters.
