Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack for the comedy Peeples. The EP features three new songs by Grammy- and Tony-nominated songwriter/producer Stephen Bray with performances by actors Craig Robinson and David Alan Grier. Also included are two tracks from the movie’s original score composed by Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, Bridge to Terabithia). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 7, 2013. Epatha Merkerson, Tyler Williams, Melvin Van Peebles, Diahann Carroll, Malcolm Barrett, Kali Hawk and Ana Gasteyer. Tyler Perry is producing the film, which is set to be released on May 10 by Lionsgate.

‘Broadchurch’ Soundtrack Released
Mercury Records has released a soundtrack for the British mini-series Broadchurch. The soundtrack EP features the original score from the series composed by Ólafur Arnald (Another Happy Day). Broadchurch written and created by Chris Chibnall (United, Torchwood) stars David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Vicky McClure, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, Will Mellor and Arthur Darvill. The mini-series about a small British community that comes under scrutiny and suspicion in the wake of a boy’s death premiered on ITV in the UK last month. BBC America will air the series later this year in the US.
Sony Masterworks to Release James Newton Howard’s ‘After Earth’ Score
Sony Masterworks will release the official soundtrack album for M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming sci-fi action adventure After Earth. The album features the film’s original score composed by James Newton Howard who has written the music for all of the director’s score in the past 14 years, including The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs and The Village. The soundtrack will be released on June 4, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full album details. After Earth starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith follows a teenager Kitai Raige and his legendary father who get stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape following a crash landing. The movie is set to be released nationwide on June 7, 2013 by Sony Pictures.
Jerry Goldsmith’s Complete ‘Von Ryan’s Express’ Score Released
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1965 WWII action adventure Von Ryan’s Express directed by Marc Robson and starring Frank Sinatra and Trevor Howard. The music is composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith. Also featured on the CD is the composer’s score for the 1968 cop thriller The Detective directed by Gordon Douglas and starring Frank Sinatra, Lee Remick and Robert Duvall. ‘What Maisie Knew’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the indie drama What Maisie Knew have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Nick Urata (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Ruby Sparks), as well as the title song Feeling of Being (What Maisie Knew) by Lucy Schwartz. ‘Endeavour’ Soundtrack Announced
Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the detective drama Endeavour. The album features one track from the show’s original score composed by Barrington Pheloung (Hilary and Jackie, Shopgirl), as well as numerous classical pieces used in the series. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on May 6, 2013 (visit Amazon to order the CD version as an import). No word yet on a domestic release date. Endeavour created by Russell Lewis based on characters created by Colin Dexter and stars Shaun Evans, Roger Allam and Patrick Malahide. The series is set as a prequel to Inspector Morse and follows the young detective Endeavour Morse and his partner Detective Inspector Fred Thursday. The pilot episode premiered last year on ITV in the UK and on PBS in the US.
Bear McCreary’s ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’ Theme to Be Released
Composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead) has launched his own record label Sparks & Shadows and announced the first couple of releases. Coming out on April 12, 2013 as a digital single is his main theme for the new Starz original series Da Vinci’s Demons. The single will be released on April 12 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A full soundtrack album will be available digitally to coincide with the season one finale and a limited edition CD, with exclusive bonus content, is planned for the summer. Da Vinci’s Demons created by David S. Goyer and starring Tom Riley, Laura Haddock, Lucrezia Donati, Elliot Cowan, Lorenzo Medici and Lara Pulver premieres this Friday, April 12 on Starz. James Newton Howard’s ‘Grand Canyon’ Score Released
La-La Land Records has announced an expanded release of the original motion picture score to the 1991 feature film Grand Canyon written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan and starring Kevin Kline, Mary McDonald, Danny Glover and Steve Martin. The album features the movie’s original score composed by James Newton Howard. The special limited edition soundtrack contains more than 25 minutes of score not found on the original soundtrack release. Jerry Goldsmith’s ‘The Salamander’ Score Released
Prometheus Records and Tadlow Music have announced the world premiere recording of the complete score for the 1981 thriller The Salamander directed by Peter Zinner and starring Franco Nero, Anthony Quinn, Martin Balsam, Sybil Dannng, Christopher Lee, Eli Wallach and Claudia Cardinale. The music composed by Jerry Goldsmith has been newly recorded in by the 85-piece City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and 80-voice Choir conducted by Nic Raine. Also featured on the album as two bonus tracks are two concert suites from Goldsmith’s score for The Cassandra Crossing and Ransom.
