Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy Spy directed by Jude Law and starring Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Miranda Hart and Jude Law. The film’s original music is composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Who Can You Trust, which he co-wrote with Craig Wedren and is performed Ivy Levan. Also opening wide is the horror sequel Insidious: Chapter 3 directed by Leigh Whannell and starring Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Lin Shaye, Steve Coulter, Angus Sampson, Hayley Kiyoko and Ashton Moio, Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Annabelle) who previously scored the first two parts in the series has composed the film’s original music. ‘Hungry Hearts’ Soundtrack Announced

Emergency Music Italy will release a soundtrack album for the drama Hungry Hearts. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Nicola Piovani (Life is Beautiful). Also included is the composer’s music for this year’s Italian film Banana directed by Andrea Jublin and starring Ascanio Balbo & Anna Bonaiuto, and his score for last year’s L’amore non perdona directed by Stefano Consiglio and starring Ariane Ascaride & Helmi Dridi. The soundtrack will be released overseas on April 21, 2015 and is now available for pre-order as an import on Amazon. Hungry Hearts is written and directed by Saverio Costanzo and stars Adam Driver, Alba Rohrwacher and Roberta Maxwell. The movie follows a married couple in New York City that engages in a fateful struggle over the life of their newborn child.

Nicola Piovani to Score ‘Hungry Hearts’

Nicola Piovani is composing the music for the upcoming drama Hungry Hearts. The film is written and directed by Saverio Costanzo (Private, In Memory of Myself) and stars Adam Driver, Alba Rohrwacher and Roberta Maxwell. The movie follows a young married couple in New York City that engages in a fateful struggle over the life of their newborn child. Mario Gianani (Vincere, Me and You) and Lorenzo Mieli (In Treatment) are producing the project. Costanzo’s last feature The Solitude of Prime Numbers featured a score by Mike Patton.

Two new movies are opening in wide release:

Opening in most theaters is the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Jersey Boys directed by Clint Eastwood and starring John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda, Vincent Piazza and Christopher Walken. Rhino Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film and the musical written by Bob Gaudio and featuring lyrics by Bob Crewe, as well as original recordings by Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons. Also opening wide is the comedy sequel Think Like a Man Too directed by Tim Story and starring Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Gabrielle Union, La La Anthony, Meagan Good, Terrence J, Adam Brody, Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Walton. Epic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from and inspired by the film by Mary J. Blige. Check out our previous article for the full album details. Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Ride Along, Revolution) has composed the film’s original score. A score album featuring the composer’s music is set to be released by Varese Sarabande.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the 3D action adventure Immortals directed by Tarsem Singh and starring Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz and John Hurt. The film’s music is composed by Trevor Morris. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the historical drama J. Edgar directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Watts, Armie Hammer, Judi Dench, Stephen Root, Josh Lucas, Dermot Mulroney and Jeffrey Donovan. Eastwood has also written the score for the film. No soundtrack album has been announced, but the score can be listened to on Warner Bros’ Awards website. Nicola Piovani’s ‘The Conquest’ Soundtrack released

The French biopic The Conquest (La conquete) recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and also opened in France last week. The film’s music is composed by Academy Award-winning composer Nicola Piovani (Life is Beautiful) and has recently been released commercially. The soundtrack album featuring 14 tracks from Piovani’s score is currently available to download on Amazon. For a preview of all tracks, check out the audio clips below. The Conquest takes a look at French president Nicolas Sarkozy’s rise to power. The film is directed by Xavier Durringer (Chok-Dee) and stars Florence Pernel, Bernard Le Coq and Samuel Labarthe. Music Box Films has acquired domestic rights for the film and is planning a release to precede the upcoming American presidential primary season.
