Thomas Newman to Score Chris Columbus’ ‘The Thursday Murder Club’
Thomas Newman (American Beauty, 1917, The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo, Road to Perdition, Skyfall, Wall-E, Bridge of Spies) has signed on to score the upcoming Netflix original film The Thursday Murder Club. The movie is co-written and directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Mrs. Doubtfire) and stars Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, David Tennant, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays,Jonathan Pryce, Richard E. Grant, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Paul Freeman, Geoff Bell, Sarah Niles and Ingrid Oliver. The crime comedy is based on the novel series of the same title by Richard Osman and follows a group of friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case.

The details of the full soundtrack album for Jacques Audiard’s musical drama Emilia Pérez have been revealed. The album features the film’s original songs (performed by cast members Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofia Gascón, Selena Gomez, Mark Ivanir, Adriana Paz & others) and original score composed by Clément Ducol & Camille. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 1 by Sony Masterworks and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The label has previously released an EP featuring five first songs last month. Emilia Pérez is written and directed by Audiard and also stars Edgar Ramírez. The movie follows a fearsome cartel leader who enlists an unappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, to help fake her death so that she can finally live authentically as her true self.

Philip Klein (The Last Full Measure, Wish Dragon, Pig, Medieval, Savage Salvation) is the composer of the upcoming Netflix limited series The Madness. The show is created by Stephen Belber (Match, O.G.) and stars Colman Domingo, Marsha Stephanie Blake, John Ortiz, Deon Cole, Tamsin Topolski, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Bradley Whitford, Gabrielle Graham and Stephen McKinley Henderson. The 8-part thriller revolves around a media pundit who stumbles upon a dead body deep in the Poconos woods and finds himself framed for the murder of a notorious white supremacist.

Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British TV series The Marlow Murder Club created by Robert Thorogood based on his own novel and starring Samantha Bond, Jo Martin, Cara Horgan, Natalie Dew, Phillipa Pea and Mark Frost. The show’s original music is composed by Cora Miron. The drama, which follows a retired archaeologist who tries to solve the crime when murder strikes the quiet riverside town of Marlow and begins to uncover a series of puzzling clues and comes to rely on the help of other local women to investigate, premiered earlier this year in the UK on U & Drama and is making its U.S. debut on PBS as part of the Masterpiece series.
Premiering on Wednesday, October 30, is the Netflix original film Time Cut directed by Hannah Macpherson and starring Madison Bailey, Antonia Gentry, Griffin Gluck, Michael Shanks, Rachael Crawford, Samuel Braun, Megan Best, Jordan Pettle, Kataem O’Connor and Sydney Sabiston.
