Ennio Morricone has received his third Golden Globe Award for his score for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. Tarantino accepted the award on Morricone’s behalf. The composer previously received the prize for his work on The Mission and The Legend of 1900. The other composers nominated in the Best Original Score category were Alexandre Desplat (The Danish Girl), Carter Burwell (Carol), Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs) and Ryuichi Sakamoto & Alva Noto (The Revenant).

Johann Johannsson has received his first Golden Globe Award for his score for James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything starring Eddie Redmayne & Felicity Jones. The other composers nominated in the Best Original Score category were Alexandre Desplat (The Imitation Game), Antonio Sanchez (Birdman), Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (Gone Girl) and Hans Zimmer (Interstellar).
In the Best Original Song category, John Legend and Common won the award for the song Glory from Selma.

Alex Ebert has received his first Golden Globe Award for his score for J.C. Chandor’s All Is Lost starring Robert Redford. The other composers nominated in the Best Original Score category were John Williams (The Book Thief), Hans Zimmer (12 Years a Slave), Alex Heffes (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) and Steven Price (Gravity).
In the Best Original Song category, U2 and Brian Burton won the award for the song Ordinary Love from Justin Chadwicks’s biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Golden Globes Backstage Interviews with Mychael Danna and Adele
NBC has published the interviews from the press room of the 70th Golden Globe Awards. As previously reported, composer Mychael Danna was honored with the award for his music for Ang Lee’s 3D adventure movie Life of Pi. Following his acceptance speech (which can be checked out here), the composer answered questions to members of the international press backstage at the awards show. Danna talked about his work on the film, his collaboration with Ang Lee, his musical influences and his relationship with India. Check out the full video after the jump.

Ludovic Bource Wins Golden Globe for ‘The Artist’
Ludovic Bource has received his first Golden Globe Award for his score for the black-and-white romance The Artist directed by Michel Hazanavicius and starring Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell, Missi Pyle and Penelope Ann Miller. The composer has already won a number of other awards and is among the frontrunners to receive an Academy Award nomination as well. The other composers nominated in the category were John Williams (War Horse), Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Howard Shore (Hugo) and Abel Korzeniowski (W.E.).
