Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the supernatural horror thriller The Nun directed by Corin Hardy and starring Demian Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu and Bonnie Aarons. The film’s original music is composed by Abel Korzeniowski (A Single Man, Penny Dreadful, W.E., Nocturnal Animals, Romeo & Juliet). Also opening wide is the action thriller Peppermint directed by Pierre Morel and starring Jennifer Garner, John Ortiz, John Gallagher Jr. and Juan Pablo Raba. Simon Franglen (The Magnificent Seven, Ice, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair) has composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as two songs by Geno Lenardo and Ash Costello. Keegan DeWitt is reuniting with director Robert Greene on the upcoming documentary Bisbee ’17. The film centers on an old mining town on the Arizona-Mexico border that finally reckons with its darkest day: the deportation of 1200 immigrant miners exactly 100 years ago. Douglas Tirola (DRUNK STONED BRILLIANT DEAD: The Story of the National Lampoon), Susan Bedusa (Actress) and Bennett Elliott are producing the project. DeWitt has previously scored Greene’s last directorial effort, Kate Plays Christine, and also composed the music for several movies edited by Greene, including Queen of Earth and Golden Exits.
