Varèse Sarabande has announced a reissue of the soundtrack album for the 1986 thriller Blue Velvet written and directed by David Lynch and starring Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper and Laura Dern. The album, which is being released to celebrate the movie’s 40th Anniversary, features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive, The Straight Story, The Beach, Wild at Heart, The City of Lost Children), as well as songs performed by Bobby Vinton, Roy Orbison, Bill Doggett, Ketty Lester & Julee Cruise. The soundtrack will be released on vinyl in a rainbow foil jacket and on CD on September 4 and is now available for pre-order in both formats on Amazon. A variety of limited-edition pressings: Yellow vinyl (exclusively at Amoeba Records), Blue (Barnes & Noble), Blue Sky Blend (Urban Outfitters), Sandy Pink (Books-A-Million), Silver & Blue Velvet (Brooklyn Vegan) and Silver will also be available at participating indie retailers.
