Lakeshore and INVADA Records will release a soundtrack album for the French documentary The Velvet Queen (La Panthère des neiges). The album features the film’s original music composed by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Hell or High Water, Wind River, The Proposal, The Road, Lawless). The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 17 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out the track list. The Velvet Queen is directed by Marie Amiguet and follows award-winning nature photographer Vincent Munier and writer Sylvain Tesson on a journey across the Tibetan highlands to document the infamously elusive snow leopard. The film is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Old Guard, Love & Basketball) and stars Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch and John Boyega. The movie is set in the Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries, and tells the story of Nanisca, the general of the all-female military unit, and Nawi, an ambitious recruit, who together fought enemies who violated their honor, enslaved their people and threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.
