Premiering on Wednesday, August 10, is the Disney+ animated shorts series I Am Groot written and directed by Kirsten Lepore and starring Vin Diesel. The show’s original music is composed by Daniele Luppi (Assassination of a High School President, Magic City, Hell Ride). Hollywood Records & Marvel Music have released a digital single featuring the composer’s score this past Friday. Check out our soundtrack announcement to listen to both tracks on the single and to learn more about the Marvel Studios production, which will be available to stream on Disney+.

Premiering on Friday, August 12, is the Apple TV+ limited series Five Days at Memorial created by John Ridley & Carlton Cuse and starring Vera Farmiga, Cherry Jones, Julie Ann Emery, Adepero Oduye, Joe Carroll, Michael Gaston, Cornelius Smith Jr. and Molly Hager. Torin Borrowdale (Searching, Locke & Key, Run, The Toll) has composed the show’s original music. Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Trial of the Chicago 7, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Steve Jobs, Birds of Prey, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Being the Ricardos) has recently been scoring the upcoming crime comedy Amsterdam. The film is written and directed by David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter) and stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Andrea Riseborough, Alessandro Nivola, Anya Taylor-Joy, Matthias Schoenaerts, Chris Rock, Michael Shannon, Taylor Swift, Mike Myers, Zoe Saldaña, Rami Malek and Robert De Niro. Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the docuseries Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Justin Melland (The Innocence Files, The Sons of Sam: A Descent into Darkness, Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, Wrong Man). Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes is directed by Joe Berlinger and focuses on a man whose personality, good looks and social graces defied the serial-killer stereotype, allowing him to hide in plain sight as he committed the brutal sex-crime slayings of more than thirty women before being caught in 1978. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action comedy Bullet Train directed by David Leitch and starring Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Sandra Bullock, Andrew Koji, Brian Tyree Henry and Michael Shannon. The film’s original score is composed by Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, Peter Rabbit, Money Monster, The King’s Man) who also co-wrote and produced several of the songs from the movie. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the full album details) and Arista Records has released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the Sony Pictures production (click here for more information).

Also opening wide is the comedy Easter Sunday directed by Jay Chandrasekhar and starring Jo Koy, Jimmy O. Yang, Tia Carrere, Eva Noblezada, Brandon Wardell, Tiffany Haddish and Lou Diamond Phillips. Dan the Automator (Booksmart, Control, Holidate) has composed the film’s original music. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Walt Disney Records has released a digital single featuring the songs from Lucasfilm’s new animated special LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music platforms are Scarif Beach Party composed by Michael Kramer, writer/executive producer David Shayne, Allie Feder & Roberto Prado and performed by “Weird Al” Yankovic (who stars as Vic Vankoh) and Gamorrean Girls composed by Kramer, Shayne & Prado and performed by James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) & Allie Feder (Sy Snootles). Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1985 fantasy adventure Red Sonja directed by Richard Fleischer and starring Brigitte Nielsen, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sandahl Bergman, Paul L. Smith and Ronald Lacey. The album features the expanded and remastered original music from the Dino De Laurentiis production composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Ennio Morricone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Hateful Eight, Cinema Paradiso), including the content of the original soundtrack album in stereo and the composer’s complete score in mono. The World Soundtrack Academy has announced the nominees for the 2022 World Soundtrack Awards in the categories of Film Composer of the Year, Television Composer of the Year and Best Original Song. The winners will be announced at the 22nd World Soundtrack Awards ceremony, which will take place at the renovated Concert Hall of Music Centre De Bijloke in Ghent on October 22, 2022. Mark Isham has previously been announced as guest of honor and Bruno Coulais will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The rest of the nominations will be revealed in September.
