Haim Mazar (The Iceman, Sneakerheads, The Taking of Deborah Logan, Woke, I Am Wrath) has been hired to score the upcoming comedy sequel Half Baked 2. The film is directed by Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House, Naked) and stars Rachel True who reprises her role as Mary Jane from the original 1998 movie (scored by Alf Clausen), as well as Dexter Darden, Moses Storm, Ramona Young, Joel Courtney, Ash Santos and David Koechner. The movie follows Thurgood Jenkins’ son and his best friends as they search for the money to bury their other best friend who died from smoking the most powerful joint in the world. Morgan Kibby (aka White Sea) (Mothering Sunday, The Watcher, Girls of the Sun, Grand Army, Tales of the Walking Dead) is the composer of the upcoming Prime Video original series The Power. The show is based on Naomi Alderman’s novel of the same title and stars Toni Collette, John Leguizamo, Auli’i Cravalho, Josh Charles, Toheeb Jimoh, Eddie Marsan, Zrinka Cvitešić, Ria Zmitrowicz and Halle Bush. The thriller follows a group of teenage girls who develop the power to electrocute people at will as the Power evolves from a tingle in teenagers’ collarbones to a complete reversal of the power balance of the world. Germaine Franco Wins Grammy Award for ‘Encanto’ Score

Germaine Franco has won her first Grammy Award for her score for Disney’s animated feature Encanto in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category at today’s 65th Annual Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony in Los Angeles. She previously received an Academy Award nomination for her work on the film. Lin-Manuel Miranda received the Grammy for the movie’s original song We Don’t Talk About Bruno in the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download now on Amazon and any other major digital music services. 30 for 30: Bullies of Baltimore directed by Ken Rodgers & Jason Weber tells the story of the Super Bowl champion 2000 Baltimore Ravens and centers on the team’s magical season framed by a reunion of its key figures filmed in front of a live audience in Baltimore in May 2022. Premiering on Wednesday, February 8, is the ABC comedy Not Dead Yet created by Casey Johnson & David Windsor based on the book Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up by Alexandra Potter and starring Gina Rodriguez, Joshua Banday and Angela Gibbs. The show’s original music is composed by Transcenders (Gossip Girl, Madam Secretary, Black-ish, Our Family Wedding). The series, which follows a broke and newly single woman working to restart the life and career she left behind five years ago who starts getting life advice from an unlikely source, will air Wednesday nights on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu.
Premiering on Thursday, February 9, is the Netflix animated series My Dad the Bounty Hunter created by Everett Downing & Patrick Harbin and starring Laz Alonso, Yvonne Orji, JeCobi Swain,Priah Ferguson, Rob Riggle, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash, Jamie Chung and Leslie Uggams. Joshua Mosley (Tuscaloosa, Bernie the Dolphin, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost) has composed the show’s original score. Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album featuring selections of Mosley’s score and several songs from the show this past Friday. Grappa Musikkforlag has released a soundtrack album for the Norwegian horror thriller Viking Wolf (Vikingulven). The album features the film’s original music composed by Kjetil Schjander Luhr (Hamada, Reconstructing Utøya) & Bjørnar Johnsen (Switch, Radiopiratene). Viking Wolf is co-written and directed by Stig Svendsen and stars Elli Müller Osborne, Liv Mjönes, Arthur Hakalahti, Vidar Magnussen, Mia Fosshaug Laubacher, Sjur Vatne Brean and Øyvind Brandtzæg. Opening in theaters nationwide today is the horror thriller Knock at the Cabin co-written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Abby Quinn, Rupert Grint, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Kristen Cui. The film’s original music is composed by Herdís Stefánsdóttir (Y: The Last Man, The Essex Serpent, The Sun Is Also a Star, We’re Here). Also opening wide is the comedy 80 for Brady directed by Kyle Marvin and starring Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno, Jane Fonda, Sally Field, Billy Porter and Tom Brady. Joseph Shirley has recently been scoring the third season of Lucasfilm’s Disney+ original series The Mandalorian. The composer has previously provided additional music to the first two seasons of the show as part of Ludwig Göransson’s team. While the full Season 3 music credits have not been confirmed yet, our understanding is that it will be similar to last year’s The Book of Boba Fett with Shirley being credited as the score composer and Göransson for providing the themes.
