The AV Club (via The Playlist) has revealed that Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi is scoring Cameron Crowe’s upcoming comedy drama We Bought a Zoo. The film is based on Benjamin Mee’s memoir and revolves around a widowed father who buys a dilapidated zoo in hopes of making a fresh start. He and his children, along with a small but loyal staff, work to get the zoo reopened. The film is starring Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Elle Fanning, Angus Macfadyen and Thomas Hayden Church. Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada, Morning Glory) is adapting Mee’s memoir for the screen and Julie Torn (Unstoppable, Red Riding Hood) is producing. ‘One Day’ Soundtrack announced

Universal-Island Records has announced the soundtrack album for the upcoming romance One Day. The album features four tracks from the score by Oscar-winning composer Rachel Portman, as well as a number of songs from the movie by artists including Elvis Costello, Del Amitri, Tricky, Fatboy Slim, Primal Scream, Robbie Williams, Ronan Keating, Corona and Tears for Fears. One Day based on the bestselling novel by David Nicholls is directed by Lorne Scherfig and stars Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess and Patricia Clarkson. Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi western Cowboys & Aliens directed by Jon Favreau, produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Paul Dano and Sam Rockwell. The film’s music is composed by Harry Gregson-Williams. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is now available to download on iTunes and will be released on CD on August 16. Also opening wide is the romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, written by Dan Fogelman and starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei. Christophe Beck and Nick Urata composed the movie’s score. A soundtrack album featuring twelve songs from the film has been released on Watertower Music. Ludwig Göransson is set to score the new Fox comedy show New Girl. The project stars Zooey Deschanel as a girl in her late 20s who, after a bad breakup, moves in with three single guys, played by Jake Johnson (No Strings Attached), Max Greenfield (Ugly Betty) and Lamorne Morris. The show is created by Liz Meriwether (No Strings Attached). Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Orange County) directed the pilot episode. Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Katherine Pope (Breakout Kings), Dave Finkel & Brett Baer (30 Rock, United States of Tara) are executive producing alongside Meriwether and Kasdan. Milan Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the Showtime hit drama Dexter. The album features music from Season 5 of the show, including 18 tracks from the score by Daniel Licht, as well as the the main theme composed by Rolfe Kent. Also featured on the soundtrack are several Latin songs from such artists as Bomba Estereo, Astata, Cuban All Star Band, Malo, Los Iracundos, Leny More and Latin Bitman. Hall as a bloodstain pattern analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer. Christophe Beck has been hired to score the family movie The Muppets. The first film featuring Jim Henson’s creatures since 1999’s Muppets from Space is directed by James Bobin and teams up characters including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy with actors Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones. Segel also co-wrote the screenplay with Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall). Todd and David Lieberman (The Fighter, The Proposal) are producing the project. The film also features numerous cameos by such actors as Emily Blunt, Ricky Gervais, Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Ed Helms, Donald Glover, John Krasinski and Danny Trejo. Previous Muppets movie composers include Hans Zimmer, Ralph Burns, Miles Goodman and Jamshied Sharifian. Walt Disney Records has already announced a soundtrack album for the film to be released on November 22, 2011, but no word yet on if it will contain any of Beck’s score. Eric Serra is scoring the upcoming drama The Lady. The film is directed by Luc Besson who has collaborated with the composer on most of his movies (including Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element and La femme Nikita. The French/British co-production tells the true story of political activist Aung San Suu Kyi and her husband Michael Aris. Michelle Yeoh stars in the title role as Suu Kyi, the reluctant politician who spent almost 15 years under house arrest in Burma until last November. The film focuses on the heartrending choice she had to make about whether to return to England and nurse her husband, played by David Thewlis, who was dying of cancer or to carry on fighting for democracy in Burma. Ramin Djawadi has signed on to score the new CBS series Person of Interest. The show is created by Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonathan (co-writer of The Dark Knight and The Prestige) and centers on a presumed dead former-CIA agent who teams up with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes by using their own brand of vigilante justice. J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (Lost) are producing alongside Greg Plageman (Cold Case) and David Semel (Heroes, No Ordinary Family) who also directed the pilot. The drama’s cast includes Michael Emerson (Lost), Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ), Taraji B. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and Kevin Chapman (Brotherhood). Warner Bros. Records has announced a soundtrack album for the upcoming remake of Conan the Barbarian. The album includes the film’s original score by composer Tyler Bates. The soundtrack will be released on August 16, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album after the jump. Conan the Barbarian is directed by Marcus Nispel and follows the mythical hero driven to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village. Dickon Hinchliffe is scoring the upcoming crime drama Rampart. The movie based on a story by James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential, The Black Dahlia) is directed by Oren Moverman (The Messenger) who also co-wrote the script with Ellroy. The film centers on the widespread corruption in the anti-gang unit of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division in the late 1990’s. Woody Harrelson stars as an LAPD officer on a redemptive journey as he finds himself embroiled in the scandal. Ben Foster, Steve Buscemi, Ice Cube, Sigourney Weaver, Anne Heche, Cynthia Nixon and Robin Wright are co-starring. Read the rest of this entry »
