Marcelo Zarvos has recently scored the comedy Friends with Kids. The movie marks the directorial debut of actress/writer Jennifer Westfeldt who also wrote the project’s screenplay. Zarvos previously scored the 2001 indie comedy Kissing Jessica Stein, which was written and produced by Westfeldt who also played the main character in the film. Friends with Kids stars Westfeldt, Adam Scott, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Chris O’Dowd, Megan Fox and Edward Burns. iZLER to Score ABC’s ‘Revenge’

iZLER is scoring the new ABC drama Revenge. The show starring Emily VanCamp, Madeleine Stowe, Gabriel Mann, Henry Czerny, Connor Paolo, Ashley Madekwe and Nick Wechsler centers on a mysterious woman who arrives in the Hamptons seeking revenge on the people who destroyed her family. The series created by Mike Kelley (Swingtown) is loosely based on Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Count of Monte Cristo. Phillip Noyce (Salt, The Bone Collector) directed the pilot and is executive producing the project with Kelley, Marty Bowen (Dear John) and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight, I Robot). iZLER has recently been nominated for a World Soundtrack Award in the Discovery of the Year category for his scores for the biopic Hamill and the comedy Natural Selection. Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the thriller Contagion directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Ehle, Laurence Fishburne, Brian Cranston and John Hawkes. The film’s music is composed by Cliff Martinez. A soundtrack album featuring the score by Martinez has been released by Watertower Music. Also opening wide is the drama Warrior directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Morrison and Noah Emmerich. The movie’s score is written by Mark Isham. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album including Isham’s score, as well as a song by The National. The digital release is already out and a CD version will be released next Tuesday. ‘Dream House’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the thriller Dream House. The album includes 15 tracks of the movie’s original score composed by John Debney. ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’ Score Album Announced

Lakeshore Records has announced a score album for the romantic comedy I Don’t Know How She Does It. The score is composed by Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, John Q, the Sex and the City movies). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 20, 2011 and a CD is coming out on October 18. Check back for audio clips to be added to this article within the next two weeks. ‘Straw Dogs’ Soundtrack Details

Madison Gate Records will be releasing the soundtrack album for the thriller Straw Dogs. The album includes the score from the movie by composer Larry Groupé (The Contender, Commander in Chief). Harry Gregson-Williams Scoring ‘Arthur Christmas’

Harry Gregson-Williams is currently scoring Aardman Animations’ and Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming feature Arthur Christmas. He is taking over scoring duties from Michael Giacchino and Adam Cohen who were originally attached to score the movie. Gregson-Williams has previously co-scored Aardman’s first full length feature Chicken Run with John Powell and was the principal composer on the company’s 2006 film Flushed Away. Arthur Christmas directed by Barry Cook (Mulan) centers on Arthur, the son of Santa and his ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole. ‘A Dangerous Method’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Classical will be releasing the soundtrack for David Cronenberg’s new thriller A Dangerous Method. The album features the original score from the movie by composer Howard Shore, as well as Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll performed by Lang Lang. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on September 16, 2011. A release in the US is expected closer to the movie’s domestic opening in LA and New York on November 23. (UPDATE, November 2011): The album is now scheduled for a domestic release on November 21 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. A Dangerous Method starring Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley, Michael Fassbender and Vincent Cassell chronicles the intense relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud and the birth of psychoanalyis.
