Mark Mothersbaugh has been tapped to score Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked. The movie is directed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Forver After, Sky High) and stars Jason Lee, David Cross, Jenny Slate, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Amy Poehler, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate. In the film, the Chipmunks are turning a luxury cruise liner into their personal playground, until they become ‘chipwrecked’ on a remote island. Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger (Kung Fu Panda, Monsters vs Aliens) have written the project’s screenplay. Mothersbaugh’s music is scheduled to be recorded next month. CBS Records has announced a soundtrack release for the new version of the CBS hit show Hawaii Five-0. The album includes the newly arranged Morton Stevens main title theme, as well as a score suite by composers Brian Tyler and Keith Power. Other artists featured on the release include Jimmy Cliff, Goo Goo Dolls, Switchfoot, Corinne Bailey Rae, Train, Bob Dylan, Ziggy Marley and John Cruz. The soundtrack will be released on October 4, 2011 and is now available to pre-order on Amazon. Hawaii Five-0 starring Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park and Masi Oka has just entered its second season earlier this week and is airing every Monday night on CBS. Kritzerland has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for Ridley Scott’s 1991 classic Thelma & Louise. The music is written by Hans Zimmer on his second collaboration with the director following Black Rain. The soundtrack is limited to only 1200 copies and is available to order on Kritzerland’s website where you can also listen to audio clips from the album. Only one four-minute track of Zimmer’s score featuring Peye Haycock’s guitar work has previously been released on the offcial 1991 soundtrack album. Thelma & Louise stars Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Christopher Macdonald and Brad Pitt. The movie has received six Academy Award nominations and ended up winning one Oscar for Callie Khouri’s screenplay.

Music editor Jim Henrikson has revealed in a recent interview with SCOREcast Online that James Horner is in talks to score the upcoming comic book adaptation reboot of The Amazing Spider-Man. While the assignment has not been confirmed to us yet, Henrikson who has been Horner’s primary music editor over the last two decades said that the assignment “is pretty well set” at the time of the interview (which was conducted right before the recording sessions of the historical epic Cristiada in May). The Amazing Spider-Man is directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) and stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as The Lizard. ‘Real Steel’ Score Album Announced

Varese Sarabande has announced a score album for the upcoming action sci-fi action movie Real Steel. The album includes the original score from the movie by Danny Elfman. The soundtrack will be released on November 1, 2011. Check back for the full soundtrack details including cover art and track list in a few weeks. A seperate song album featuring one score track by Elfman will be released in October by Interscope Records as announced in a previous article. Real Steel is set in the near-future where 2,000-pound robots that look like humans do battles. Intrada Records has released a limited edition of the soundtrack for the 1990 western Young Guns II. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Alan Silvestri. Only one track from Silvestri’s music has previously been released on the original soundtrack in 1990. ‘Insidious’ Soundtrack Announced

Void Recordings will be releasing a soundtrack album for this spring’s horror hit film Insidious. The soundtrack includes 26 tracks from the score by composer Joseph Bishara. The album will be released digitally on October 11, 2011 and will be available on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks of the score after the jump. Insidious directed by James Wan and starring Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson and Barbara Hershey tells the story about a family haunted by vengeful spirits. John Swihart is scoring the new CBS comedy How to Be a Gentleman. The show created by David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and based on the nonfiction book of the same name by John Bridges chronicles the friendship between an uptight columnist and his more freewheeling trainer. Hornsby also stars in the comedy alongside Kevin Dillon, Dave Foley, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Rhys Darby and Nancy Lenehan. Adam Chase (Friends) and Ted Schachter are executive producing the project with Hornsby. How to Be a Gentleman is set to debut on September 29, 2011 and will be airing every Thursday night on CBS. ‘Dirty Girl’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the drama Dirty Girl. The album includes 14 songs from the movie by such artists as Pat Benetar, Melissa Manchester, Tanya Tucker, Bow Wow Wow, Rita Coolidge, The Outfield, Sheena Easton, Teena Marie and Wendy and Lisa. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 27, 2011 and a physical release is coming on October 11. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. While none of the film’s score by composer Jeff Toyne is included, Melissa Manchester’s song Rainbird  includes an original string arrangement by Toyne. The musical fundraising project was originally designed to help the people of Haiti in their desperate time of need.
