The four-hour adaptation is based on the best-selling novel by Ira Levin and stars Zoe Saldana, Patrick J. Adams, Jason Isaacs and Carole Bouquet. The mini-series directed by Agnieszka Holland follows a young married couple who escapes New York and moves into a Paris apartment with a haunted past and an immeasurable price. James Wong (Final DestinationThe One) and Scott Abbott (Queen of the Damned) have adapted the material for television. Joshua D. Maurer (The Hoax), Alixandre Witlin and David A. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

neighborsOpening in most theaters is the comedy Neighbors directed by Nick Stoller and starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Dave Franco. The film’s original music is composed by Mike Andrews (The HeatBridesmaidsBad TeacherDonnie Darko). Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by artists including Flo Rida, Missy Elliott feat. legends-of-ozAlso opening wide is the animated feature Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return directed by Daniel St. Pierre & Will Finn and featuring the voice talent of Lea Michele, Martin Short, Hugh Dancy and Megan Hilty Dan Aykroyd, Jim Belushi, Kelsey Grammer, Oliver Platt, Patrick Stewart and Bernadette Peters. The film’s original songs are composed by Bryan Adams, Jim Vallance,  Tift Merritt, Jim Dooley & Mike Himelstein. The movie’s original score is composed by Toby Chu (Covert AffairsBurn Notice). andrew-lockingtonAndrew Lockington is reuniting with director Brad Peyton on the upcoming thriller Incarnate. The film stars Aaron Eckhart, Carice van Houten, Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Mazouz. The movie follows an unconventional exorcist who taps into the subconscious of a nine-year old boy who is possessed by a powerful, ancient demon. Ronnie Christensen (Passengers, Dark Tide) has written the screenplay. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) is producing the project through his Blumhouse production company. imageJohn Debney has signed on to score the upcoming mini-series Houdini. The two-parter stars Adrian Brody as Harry Houdini and Kristen Connolly as his wife Bess. The four-hour series follows the magician as be finds fame, engages in espionage, battles spiritualists and encounters several U.S. presidents, as well as such personalities as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Grigori Rasputin. Uli Edel (The Baader Meinhof Complex) is directing the A + E Studios and Lionsgate Television production and Gerald W. Abrams (Nuremberg) and Andras Hamori (eXistenZ, Cheri) are executive producing the project. Nicolas Meyer (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Sommersby, Volunteers) has written the script. Debney has previously scored the mini-series Hatfields & McCoys and last year’s Bonnie & Clyde for A+E/History.

imageHamburger Records will release a soundtrack album for the biographical drama Grace of Monaco. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christopher Gunning who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Olivier Dahan on La Vie en Rose. Also included are classical pieces by Erik Satie, Jean Sibelius and more. Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill) has composed additional music for the film. The soundtrack will be releasd digitally on May 12, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Grace of Monaco stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly and Tim Roth as her husband, Prince Rainier III. Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi and Milo Ventimiglia are co-starring in the movie, which follows the actress as she is being called upon to save Monaco from a crisis over its standing as a tax haven after it was given six months to reform the nation’s tax laws. The movie follows a widower with a daughter who gets remarried and has the opportunity for a new start in a new house and immediately falls prey to strange occurrences. James Wan (The ConjuringInsidiousFast & Furious 7) is producing the New Line Cinema production with Rick Alvarez (A Haunted HouseWhite Chicks) for The Safran Company. cometDaniel Hart is composing the music for the upcoming indie romantic comedy Comet. The film is written and directed by Sam Esmail and stars Emmy Rossum and Justin Long. The movie is set in a parallel universe and bounces back and forth over the course of an unlikely but perfectly paired couple’s six-year relationship. Farnaz Fahid, Chad Hamilton and Lee Clay (Beautiful Boy, 96 Minutes) are producing the project. Steve Golin (Babel, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless MindTrue Detective) is executive producing for Anonymous Content. Hart is best known for his music for last year’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints starring Rooney Mara & Casey Affleck.  Read the rest of this entry »

atticus-rossOn June 12, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is sponsoring an evening of electronic music and conversation with composer Atticus Ross who will debut an original, stylized electronic soundscape to the audience. The composer of such films as The Book of Eli and Broken City and the upcoming Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy will talk about moving into film composing and discuss scoring David Fincher’s Academy Award-winning The Social Network, as well as the director’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the upcoming Gone Girl with long-time collaborator Trent Reznor. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Luis Bacalov (Il PostinoSea of Dreams). The soundtrack will be released on June 10, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Hidden Moon is directed by Pepe Bojórquez and stars Wes Bentley, Ana Serradilla, Johnathon Schaech and Linda Gray. The movie centers on a young man who meets a mysterious Latin American woman at his father’s funeral and follows her to Mexico, where he discovers her identity and realizes he has fallen in love with a woman who belongs to someone else. The film is directed by Mark Webber (The End of LoveExplicit Ills) who also stars in the film alongside his wife Teresa Palmer, Melissa Leo, Phoebe Tonkin, Rosario Dawson and Joshua Leonard. Moby also appears in a supporting role in the movie. The drama follows a mother and wife and her fashion photographer husband who must confront their innermost vulnerabilities to recover their disintegrating marriage.
