‘Boyhood’ Soundtrack Details

boyhoodNonesuch Records will release a soundtrack album for Richard Linklater’s indie drama Boyhood. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Coldplay, Vampire Weekend, Bob Dylan, Gnarls Barkley, The Flaming Hips, Arcade Fire, Wilco, The Black Keys, Jeff Tweedy, The Hives, Cat Power, Paul McCartnet & Wings and more. The soundtrack will be released on July 8, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Boyhood is written and directed by Richard Linklater and stars Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane, Lorelei Linklater and Ethan Hawke. The movie was filmed over 12 years with the same cast and tells a story through the eyes of a child named Maso who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. aaron-zigmanAaron Zigman has composed the music for the upcoming drama Addicted. The film is directed by Bille Woodruff (HoneyBeauty Shop) and stars Sharon Leal, Boris Kodjoe, Tyson Beckford, Kat Graham and William Levy. The movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Zane and follows a happily married woman with three kids who finds herself satisfying her addiction to sex by sleeping with other men. Christina Welsh and Bernie Barbarash have written the screenplay. Paul Hall (Higher Learning) is producing the project. Zigman has previously scored numerous features produced by Hall, including PrideFor Colored GirlsGood Deeds and Peeples. james-newton-howardJames Newton Howard has signed on to score the upcoming indie thriller Nightcrawler. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Dan Gilroy (Real Steel, Two for the Money) and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Bill Paxton, Riz Ahmed and Kevin Rahm. The movie tells the story of a driven young man who discovers the nocturnal world of L.A. freelance crime journalism. Gilroy has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Jennifer Fox (We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Informant!), Michel Litvak & David Lancaster (Drive, Legion) for Bold Films and his brother brother, Tony. Howard has previously scored Tony Gilroy’s last three features, including Michael Clayton, Duplicity and The Bourne Legacy. Nightcrawler is currently in post-production. marco-beltramiMarco Beltrami has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Coup. The film is directed by John Erick Dowdle (Devil, Quarantine) and stars Pierce Brosnan, Owen Wilson, Lake Bell and Sterling Jerins. The movie follows an American family who move to Southeast Asia and find themselves entangled in a violent coup in which merciless rebels attack the city. The director has also co-written the screenplay with his brother, Drew Dowdle, who is producing the project with Michel Litvak, David Lancaster & Gary Michael Walters (Drive, Legion, The Hole). ‘Fargo’ TV Series Soundtrack Details

fargoThe details of the soundtrack album for the critically acclaimed FX original series Fargo have been revealed. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Jeff Russo (PowerNecessary RoughnessAbout Cherry). The soundtrack will be released on July 1, 2014 by Sony Masterworks and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Fargo is created by Noah Hawley inspired Joel & Ethan Coen’s feature of the same title. The show stars Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, Oliver Platt, Bon Odenkirk, Kate Walsh, Glenn Howerton and Joey King. witching-and-bitchingA soundtrack album has been released for the Spanish horror comedy Witching & Bitching. The album features the film’s original music composed by Joan Valent (As Luck Would Have It). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Witching & Bitching is directed by Alex de la Iglesia (The Oxford Murders) and stars Hugo Silva, Mario Casas, Carmen Maura and Pepón Nieto. The movie follows a group of flesh-eating witches who meet their match when a group of hapless thieves stumble upon a mysterious mansion. The comedy premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival as the closing night film at Midnight Madness and was picked up by IFC Midnight for a domestic release in select theaters and on VOD this Friday, June 13. yellowbirdStephen Warbeck is composing the music for the upcoming animated feature Yellowbird. The film is directed by Christian De Vita and features the voice talent of Seth Green, Dakota Fanning, Danny Glover, Jim Rash, Elliott Gould and Christine Baranski. The movie follows an orphan young bird who has never left the nest and is given the responsibility by the elder of the flock to lead a whole family of birds on migration to Africa. Antoine Barraud, Guilhem Lesaffre and Cory Edwards (Hoodwinked!) have written the screenplay. lion-guardChristopher Willis has been tapped to score Disney Television Animation’s upcoming movie and series The Lion Guard. The projects are developed by Ford Riley (Special Agent Oso) and will continue the story introduced 20 years ago in the studio’s animated classic The Lion King. The movie and show will center on the second-born cub of Simba and Nala as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a group of the bravest and brightest tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. Riley also serves as an executive producer and Howy Parkins (Jake and the Never Land Pirates) is the director. howard-shoreHoward Shore has composed the music for the upcoming drama Rosewater. The film marks the directorial debut of The Daily Show host Jon Stewart and stars Gael Garcia Bernal, leading an international cast. The movie is based on the memoir Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival and tells the true story of Canadian-Iranian BBC journalist Maziar Bahari who spent four months in an Iranian prison being blindly interrogated by a man who smelled of rosewater. Stewart has also written the screenplay and is also producing the OddLot Entertainment production with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, Moneyball, The Social Network) and Gigi Pritzker (Drive, Ender’s Game). deep-risingIntrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1998 the horror thriller Deep Rising directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Treat Williams, Famke Janssen, Wes Studi and Djimon Hounsou. Paraphrasing composer. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith (Planet of the ApesPattonThe OmenAlienStar Trek: The Motion Picture) who would later on score the director’s hit adventure movie The Mummy. The album features around 30 minutes of previously unreleased music from the film, as well as an unused opening sequence as originally scored by composer.
