‘Outlander’ Soundtrack Announced

outlanderMadison Gate Records will release a soundtrack album for the Starz original series Outlander. The album features selections of the original score from the first season of the show written by Emmy Award-winning composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., DaVinci’s Demons). Also featured are the songs adapted by McCreary for the series, including the main title theme, The Skye Boat Song, performed by Raya Yarbrough. The soundtrack will be released both digitally and physically on February 10, 2015. The label has previously released the main title theme as a single this past summer. Outlander is created by Ronald D. Moore based on the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon and stars Caitrona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish, Gary Lewis, Duncan Lacroix, Annette Badland and Stephen Walters.  Read the rest of this entry »

golden-globesJohann Johannsson has received his first Golden Globe Award for his score for James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything starring Eddie Redmayne & Felicity Jones. The other composers nominated in the Best Original Score category were Alexandre Desplat (The Imitation Game), Antonio Sanchez (Birdman), Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (Gone Girl) and Hans Zimmer (Interstellar).

In the Best Original Song category, John Legend and Common won the award for the song Glory from Selma.

togethernessPremiering tonight is the new HBO original series Togetherness  created and executive produced by Mark & Jay Duplass and starring Amanda Peet, Melanie Lynskey, Mark Duplass and Steve Zissis. The show’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (NeighborsBridesmaidsDonnie Darko) who previously scored the Duplass Brothers’ features Cyrus and Jeff Who Lives at Home. The series about two couples who are living under the same Los Angeles roof and who are struggling in their relationships while dealing with their individual problems will every Sunday night on HBO. eye-candyPremiering tomorrow, January 12, is the new MTV original drama Eye Candy based on the book by R.L. Stine, executive produced by Jason Blum and starring Victoria Justice, Casey Deidrick, Harvey Guillen, Kiersey Clemons and John Garet Stoker. Dino Meneghin (Teen Wolf) is composing the show’s original score. Eye Candy follows a tech genius who is persuaded by her roommate to begin online dating and begins to suspect that one of her mysterious suitors might be a deadly cyber stalker. fifty-shades-of-greyRepublic Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. The album features the songs from and inspired by the film by artists including Annie Lennox, Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding, AWOLNATION, Sia, Jessie Ware, Laura Welsh, Skylar Grey & more. Also included are two tracks from the film’s original score composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man Alice in WonderlandBatman). Fil Eisler to Score Lifetime’s ‘UnReal’

unrealFil Eisler has been tapped to score the upcoming Lifetime original series UnReal. The show is created by Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce) & Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and stars Shiri Appleby, Constance Zimmer, Craig Bierko, Freddie Stroma, Josh Kelly and Nathalie Kelley. The show is based on Shapiro’s short Sequin Raze and follows a young staff member on a hit competition dating show who does everything she can to help please the show’s executive producer. taken-3Opening nationwide today is the action thriller sequel Taken 3 directed by Olivier Megaton, produced by Luc Besson and starring Liam Neeson, Forest Whitaker, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, Dogray Scott, Sam Spruell and Leland Orser. The film’s original music is composed by Nathaniel Mechaly (Colombiana, Taxi Brooklyn) who previously scored the first two movies in the series. EuropaCorp has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Glass Animals, Olafur Arnalds & Arnor Dan and The XX earlier this week. predestinationOpening in select cities this week is the sci-fi thriller Predestination written and directed by Peter & Michael Spierig and starring Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook and Noah Taylor. Peter Spierig has also written the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack album. Predestination follows a Temporal Agent who is sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to prevent future killers from committing their crimes and must stop the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time and prevent a devastating attack. mark-ishamMark Isham is composing the music for the upcoming thriller Septembers of Shiraz. The film is directed by Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) and stars Salma Hayek, Adrien Brody and Shoreh Aghdashloo. The movie is based on the New York Times bestseller of the same title by Dalia Sofer and centers on a secular Jewish family caught in the Islamic revolution in Iran, and their journey to overcome and escape from the deadly tyranny that swept their country. Hanna Weg has adapted the material for the screen. Gerard Butler & Alan Siegel (Olympus Has Fallen, Law Abiding Citizen) and Danielle Robinson are producing the Millennium Entertainment and Eclectic Pictures production with Heidi Jo Markel (Lovelace, Trust) and Weg. ‘Selma’ Soundtrack Released

selmaParamount Pictures has released a soundtrack album for the biographical drama Selma. The album features the original song Glory performed by Common & John Legend, as well as songs by Otis Redding, Sister Gertrude Morgan, The Impressions, J.B. Lenoir, Fink, Ledisi, Martha Bass & more. Also included are three tracks from the film’s original score composed by Jason Moran. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Selma is directed by Ava DuVernay and stars David Oyelowo, Tom Wilkinson, Cuba Gooding Jr, Alessandro Nivola, Giovanni Ribisi, Common, Carmen Ejogo, Lorraine Toussaint, Tim Roth and Oprah Winfrey. The movie chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition.
