Premiering tonight in the U.S. on PBS is the British drama Grantchester created by Daisy Coulam and stars James Norton, Robson Green, Morven Christie, Tessa Peake-Jones, Al Weaver and Pheline Roggan. The show’s original music is composed by John Lunn (Downton Abbey, The White Queen). Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score from the show, as well as songs by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Gloria Dee overseas last month. The album will be released digitally on January 20 stateside. ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Score Album Details

Republic Records will release a score album for the film adaptation of E.L. James’ bestselling novel Fifty Shades of Grey. The album features the film’s original music composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Men in Black). The soundtrack will be released on February 17, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The cover art will be added to this article soon. As previously reported, the label will also release a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the film and two tracks from Elfman’s score on February 10. ‘Testament of Youth’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the historical drama Testament of Youth. The album features the film’s original music composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Disconnect, Waltz with Bashir, The Congress). The soundtrack was just released digitally overseas and will come out in the U.S. on February 3, 2015. Visit Amazon to listen to audio clips and pre-order the album. Testament of Youth is directed by James Kent and stars Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, Taron Egerton, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Colin Morgan and Miranda Richardson. The movie is based on the autobiography of Vera Brittain and follows the British writer and pacifist as she served as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse in London, France and Malta. Frederik Wiedmann Scoring ‘Batman vs. Robin’

Frederik Wiedmann has composed the music for the upcoming DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation film Batman vs. Robin. The movie is inspired by the Batman: The Court of Owls storyline from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo and features the voices of Jason O’Mara as Batman, Sean Maher as Robin and David McCallum as Alfred. They are joined by Jeremy Sisto, Grey Griffin, “Weird” Al Yankovic, Robin Atkin Downes, Peter Onorati and Kevin Conroy. Jay Oliva who previously helmed Batman: Assault on Arkham and both parts of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is directing the film from a script by comic writer J.M. DeMatteis. ‘The Godfather LIVE’ to Debut in Los Angeles

On Saturday, January 24, The Godfather LIVE will make its Southern California debut at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. The film’s original music composed by Nino Rota for the Academy Award-winning film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, John Cazale, Robert Duvall & Diane Keaton will performed live by the Hollywood Studio Symphony while the film is simultaneously shown in high definition on the big screen. The event will also feature appearances of special guests to be announced. Justin Freer is conducting and producing the concert. In addition to the nationwide expansion of Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper, three other new movies are opening across the country this week:
Opening in around 3300 theaters is the family movie Paddington written and directed by Paul King and starring Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Nicole Kidman, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi and Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington. The film’s original music is composed by Nick Urata (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Focus). Decca Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as songs from the film by James Brown, Steppenwolf and Lionel Richie. The U.S. version of the film also features the original song Shine by Pharrell Williams & Gwen Stefani, which can be checked out here.
Opening in roughly 3000 theaters is the comedy The Wedding Ringer directed by Jeremy Garelick and starring Kevin Hart, Josh Gad, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Ken Howard, Cloris Leachman, Jenifer Lewis, Mimi Rogers and Olivia Thirlby. Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Agent Carter, Identity Thief) has composed the film’s original score. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by such artists as The Black Eyed Peas, Boyz II Men, Otis Redding, Todd Rundgren, Hal Jeffrin and Rancid earlier this week. Antonio Sanchez was honored with the Critics’ Choice Movie Award in the Best Score category for his music for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Birdman at tonight’s 19th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
