krampusOpening nationwide this weekend is the horror comedy Krampus written and directed by Michael Dougherty and starring Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Emjay Anthony, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen and Krista Stadler. The film’s original music is composed by Douglas Pipes (Monster House, Trick ‘r Treat). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. chi-raqOpening in around 300 theaters is the comedy drama Chi-Raq directed by Spike Lee and starring Teyohonah Parris, Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, La La Anthony, John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, D.B. Sweeney, Harry Lennix and Steve Harris. Terence Blanchard (Malcolm X, Inside Man) has composed the film’s original score. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by artists including Nick Cannon, R. Kelly feat. Tunk, Jennifer Hudson, Sam Dew, The Bruce Hornsby Band & more. dustin-morganDustin Morgan, frontman of LA based orchestral rock band Archer Black, has been hired to score the upcoming black comedy thriller Fear, Inc. The film is directed by Vincent Masciale, written by Luke Barnett and stars Lucas Neff, Caitlin Stasey, Chris Marquette, Stephanie Drake and Mark Moses, as well as Eric Lange, Richard Riehle, Naomi Grossman, Ashlynn Yennie, David Ury and Patrick Renna. Rob Simonsen to Score Zach Braff’s ‘Going in Style’

rob-simonsenRob Simonsen is reteaming with Zach Braff (Garden State, Scrubs) on the upcoming caper comedy Going in Style. The film is a remake of Martin Brest’s 1979 movie of the same title and stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, Joey King, Matt Dillon and Ann-Margret. The movie marks Braff’s third feature directorial effort and follows three retired men who lose their pensions when the company they’ve worked for their entire lives is sold to a foreign corporation, which makes them set out to try to rob the very bank that’s withholding their money. Theodore Melfi (St. Vincent) has written the screenplay. Donald De Line (The Italian Job, Pain & Gain, Body of Lies) is producing the New Line Cinema production. Read the rest of this entry »

‘Rams’ Soundtrack Details

ramsLakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the comedy drama Rams. The album features the film’s original music composed by Atli Orvarsson (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Vantage Point, Chicago Fire, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones). Also included are the songs featured in the movie by Haukur Morthens, Sigurður Skagfield and Stefán Íslandi. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 11, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is set to come out in early 2016. Rams is directed by Grímur Hákonarson and stars Sigurður Sigurjónsson and Theodór Júlíusson. The movie is Iceland’s candidate for the Best Foreign Film category at the next Academy Awards and follows two brothers who live on neighboring sheep farms but have not spoken to each other for 40 years and come together when authorities decree that all the sheep in the valley must be destroyed due to a virus. sunset-songMilan Records has released a soundtrack album for the drama Sunset Song. The album features the film’s original music composed by Gast Waltzing (Hysteria, JCVD, House of Boys). The soundtrack is now available to download overseas. A domestic release is set for May 2016. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. Listen to three tracks from the album after the jump. Sunset Song is directed by Terence Davies (The Deep Blue Sea) and stars Agyness Deyn, Peter Mullan and Kevin Guthrie. The movie is based on the classic novel by Lewis Grassic Gibbon and centers around a farming family struggling to eke out a living in northeast Scotland. The album features the songs from the series, including the main title theme Who’s Da King by Blaze n Vill, as well as tracks by The DeeKompressors, Melanie Taylor and Linus of Hollywood. Also included are five tracks from the show’s original score composed by Frederik Wiedmann (Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Beware the Batman, Miles from Tomorrowland). The film is directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, The Lorax) & Yarrow Cheney and features the voice talent of Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Jenny Slate, Bobby Moynihan, Hannibal Buress and Albert Brooks. The movie revolves around the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day. Chris Meledandri (Despicable Me series, Minions) is producing the Illumination Entertainment production with Janet Healey. Nas to Produce Soundtrack for ‘The Land’

nasIt was announced today that Grammy Award-nominated rapper/songwriter Nas is producing the soundtrack for the upcoming indie drama The Land. The film is written and directed by Steven Caple Jr. and stars Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Moises Arias, Rafi Gavron, Ezri Walker, Erykah Badu and Michael K. Williams. The movie follows four teenage boys from Cleveland, Ohio, pursuing a dream life of professional skateboarding and who get caught in the web of the local queenpin. Lizzie Friedman Greg Little & Karen Lauder (The Stanford Prison Experiment, Ride), Tyler Davidson (Take Shelter, The Kings of Summer), Blake Pickens and Stephen Love are producing the project. Varese Sarabande to Release ‘Person of Interest’ Seasons 3 & 4 Soundtrack

Varese Sarabande will release a new soundtrack album for the CBS drama Person of Interest. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s third and fourth season composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim, Iron Man, Clash of the Titans, The Strain). The soundtrack will be released on January 29, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released two soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s score for the series from the first and second season. benjamin-wallfischThis week, Benjamin Wallfisch is recording his music for the upcoming horror thriller Lights Out at The Bridge Recording Studios in Glendale, CA. The film is directed by David Sandberg and stars Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman and Alexander DiPersia. The movie is based on the director’s short film of the same title and follows a young boy and his estranged sister who are confronted by an evil entity that only appears when the lights are out. Eric Heisserer (Final Destination 5, The Thing) has written the screenplay and is also producing the New Line Cinema production with James Wan (The Conjuring, Furious 7, Insidious) and Lawrence Grey.
