lifeOwen Pallett is composing the music for the upcoming drama Life. The film is directed by Anton Corbijn (Control) and stars Robert Pattinson, Dane DeHaan, Joel Edgerton and Ben Kingsley. The movie is inspired by the true story of a friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock and actor James Dean when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for LIFE magazine in 1955. Luke Davies (Candy, Reclaim) has written the screenplay. fresh-off-the-boatPremiering on Wednesday February 4, 2015 is the ABC comedy Fresh Off the Boat created by Eddie Huang, executive produced by Jake Kasdan and starring Randall Park, Constance Wu, Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler and Ian Chen. The show’s original music is composed by Craig Wedren (The School of Rock, Role Models, Wet Hot American Summer). Fresh Off the Boat is set in the 90s and follows a 12 year old, hip-hop loving boy who just moved to suburban Orlando from DC’s Chinatown with his parents to pursue the American Dream. how-to-train-your-dragon-2Composer John Powell and singer/ songwriter Jónsi were honored with an Annie Award in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from DreamWorks Animation’s hit animated film How to Train Your Dragon 2. Producer Bonnie Arnold accepted their award at the ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles. The other contenders in the category were Danny Elfman for Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Nicole Renald for Cheatin’, Bruno Coulais & Kila for Song of the Sea
 and Joe Hisaishi for The Tale of Princess Kaguya

the-curse-of-sleeping-beauty.jpgDirector Pearry Teo announced on Twitter that Scott Glasgow is set to score the upcoming fantasy thriller The Curse of Sleeping Beauty. The film is written and directed by Teo and stars India Eisley, Zack Ward, Ethan Peck, Bruce Davison and Natalie Hall. The movie is based on the classic Brother Grimm fairy tale and follows a man who inherits an ancestral mansion that has been in his family for generations, only to learn that he has also inherited an ancient curse stemming back to the Crusades. He teams with an ambitious local realtor and paranormal cleric to unravel the mystery of the house, while struggling to awaken a beautiful woman, held captive in a terrifying netherworld seen previously in his dreams. The movie is written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah’s Key) and stars Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Corey Stoll, Tye Sheridan Drea DeMatteo, Andrea Roth and Sterling Jerins. The film is based on a novel by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) and follows a woman who survived the massacre of her family as a young girl and testified against her brother and is confronted by a secret society obsessed with solving notorious crimes 25 years later.  Cathy Schulman (Crash, The Illusionist), Matthew Rhodes (Southland Tales, Passengers), Matt Jackson (End of Watch, Snitch), Stephane Marsil (Adventures of Arsene Lupin), Beth Kono & AJ Dix (The Butterfly Effect, Sleepwalking) are producing the project. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

project-almanacOpening in most theaters is the found footage adventure Project Almanac directed by Dean Israelite, produced by Michael Bay and starring Jonny Weston, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Sam Lerner, Allen Evangelista, Allen Evangelista, Ginny Gardner and Ginny Gardner. The movie doesn’t feature an original score, but several songs by artists including Imagine Dragons who also appear in the film. No soundtrack album has been announced. Project Almanac follows a brilliant high school student and his friends who uncover blueprints for a mysterious device with limitless potential, inadvertently putting lives in danger. black-or-whiteAlso opening wide is the drama Black or White written and directed by Mike Binder and starring Kevin Costner, Octavia Spencer, Jillian Estell, Bill Burr, Jennifer Ehle, André Holland, Gillian Jacobs and Anthony Mackie. ‘Yellowbird’ Soundtrack Details

yellowbird22D Music will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Yellowbird (Gus: Petit oiseau, grand voyage). The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in LoveQuillsBilly ElliottCaptain Corelli’s Mandolin). Also included are songs by 20syl, Gogol Bordello and Mathilda Homer. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 22, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Yellowbird is directed by Christian De Vita and features the voices of Seth Green, Dakota Fanning, Danny Glover, Jim Rash, Elliott Gould and Christine Baranski. The movie follows an orphan young bird who has never left the nest and is given the responsibility by the elder of the flock to lead a whole family of birds on migration to Africa.
