WM Italy has released a score album for the HBO mini-series The Young Pope. The album features the film’s original music composed by Lele Marchitelli (The Great Beauty). Also included is The Dream performed by opera singer Sumi Jo. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. As previously reported, Decca Records has released a separate soundtrack overseas featuring the songs and score for the show. The Young Pope is created and directed by Paolo Sorrentino and stars Jude Law, Diane Keaton, Silvio Orlando, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, Javier Cámara, Scott Shepherd, Toni Bertorelli and James Cromwell. The 10-parter tells the story of the beginning of the pontificate of Lenny Belardo, alias Pius XIII, the first American Pope in history.

Netflix’s ‘Santa Clarita Diet’ to Feature Music by John Debney & Josh Debney
John Debney and Josh Debney are composing the original score for the upcoming Netflix original series Santa Clarita Diet. The show is created by Victor Fresco (Better Off Ted) and stars Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson and Skyler Gisondo. The comedy follows a married couple who are leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenage daughter until the wife goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction. Fresco, Barrymore and Olyphant are also executive producing the project with Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky (Mr. Robinson), Chris Miller & Ember Truesdell (Animal).
Daniel Pemberton Scoring Peter Landesman’s ‘Felt’
Daniel Pemberton is currently scoring the upcoming political thriller Felt. The film is written and directed by Peter Landesman (Concussion, Parkland) and stars Liam Neeson, Diane Lane, Tony Goldwyn, Josh Lucas, Michael C. Hall, Marton Csokas, Tom Sizemore, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ike Barinholtz, Bruce Greenwood, Brian D’Arcy James, Noah Wyle, Maika Monroe, Colm Meaney and Eddie Marsan. The movie tells the story of Mark Felt, who under the name “Deep Throat” helped journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein uncover the Watergate scandal in 1974.
John Paesano to Score Steven S. DeKnight’s ‘Pacific Rim 2’
John Paesano has signed on to score the upcoming sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim 2. The film is directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) and stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Jing Tiang, Cailee Spaeny, Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Zhang Jin, Chen Zitong, Lan Yingying and Qian Yong Chen. No plot details have been revealed yet. Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Godzilla, The Great Wall, Warcraft) and Mary Parent (The Revenant) are producing the Legendary Entertainment production with Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) who helmed the original film, as well as Boyega & Femi Oguns for their Upper Room production company.
Nathan Barr Scoring AMC’s ‘The Son’
Nathan Barr is scoring the upcoming AMC original series The Son. The show is created by Philipp Meyer, Lee Shipman & Brian McGreevy and stars Pierce Brosnan, Jacob Lofland, David Wilson Barnes, Jess Weixler, Henry Garrett, Elizabeth Frances, Zahn McClarnon, Paola Nunez, James Parks, Carlos Bardem and Sydney Lucas. The drama is based on Meyer’s novel of the same title and revolves a Texas family’s and rise and fall over multiple generations, concurrent with America’s birth as a superpower. The creators are also executive producing the AMC Studios and Sonar production with showrunner Kevin Murphy (Defiance, Caprica).
Soundtrack Album for Martin Scorsese’s ‘Silence’ to Be Released
Rhino Warner Classics will release a soundtrack album for Martin Scorsese’s drama Silence. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kim Allen Kluge and Kathryn Kluge. The soundtrack will be released physically on February 24, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Silence starring Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, Tadanobu Asano, Ciarán Hinds and Liam Neeson is set in the 17th century and centers on two Jesuit priests who face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and propagate Christianity.
Ludwig Göransson to Score Stella Meghie’s ‘Everything, Everything’
Ludwig Göransson has been hired to score the upcoming romantic drama Everything, Everything. The film is directed by Stella Meghie (Jean of the Joneses) and stars Amandla Stenberg, Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose and Ana de la Reguera. The movie is based on Nicola Yoon’s bestselling young adult novel of the same title and follows a teenager who has lived a sheltered life because she’s allergic to everything, and falls for the boy who moves in next door. J. Mills Goodloe (The Age of Adaline, Pride) wrote the screenplay.
‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Soundtrack Details
The full details of the latest soundtrack album for the BBC original series Sherlock have been announced. The album features the original music from the show’s fourth season composed by David Arnold (Independence Day, Casino Royale, Stargate, Shaft, Tomorrow Never Dies) and Michael Price (The Inbetweeners 2). Included is the music from all three episodes, The Six Thatchers and The Lying Detective, which has already been released digitally, as well as the score from The Final Problem, which is being released digitally today and is now available to download on Amazon. The soundtrack will be released this Friday, January 27 by Silva Screen Records and is now available as an import here.
Zoe Lister-Jones’ ‘Band Aid’ to Feature Music by Lucius
The indie pop band Lucius has composed the original score for the upcoming indie drama Lucius. The movie centers on a couple who turn their fights into songs as a last-ditch effort to save their marriage. The film is written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones (Breaking Upwards, Consumed, Lola Versus) who also stars in the movie alongside Adam Pally, Fred Armisen, Susie Essman, Hannah Simone and Ravi Patel. Lister-Jones is also producing the project with Natalia Anderson. The project marks the feature scoring debut of the band.
