It was announced today that the soundtrack album for the documentary Living in the Age of Airplanes will be released digitally this coming October. The album features the film’s original music composed by James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, A Beautiful Mind, Aliens, Apollo 13). David Schwartz has been hired to score the upcoming NBC comedy The Good Place. The show is created by Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and stars Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, Jameela Jamil, William Jackson Harper, Manny Jacinto and D’Arcy Carden. The series follows a young woman from New Jersey who comes to realize that she hasn’t been a very good person and decides to turn over a new leaf by learning what it actually means to be “good” or “bad”. Composer Laura Karpman has been elected to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 2016–17 Board of Governors. She joins Charles Bernstein and Michael Giacchino who are the other two governors of the branch. It will mark her first term serving on the music branch board. Karpman’s scoring credits include the 2009 feature The Tournament, 2013’s Black Nativity, the Steven Spielberg-produced mini-series Taken and WGN America’s Underground.
