bastardsRob Simonsen is composing the score for the upcoming comedy Bastards. The film marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Lawrence Sher (The Hangover, Garden State) and stars Owen Wilson, Ed Helms, J.K. Simmons, Terry Bradshaw, Jessica Gomes, Katt Williams, Ving Rhames, Katie Aselton and Glenn Close. The movie follows two brothers who set out to find their real father when they find out he is alive after being told he died by their mother when they were young. Justin Malen has written the screenplay.  Read the rest of this entry »

living-in-the-age-of-airplanesIt was announced today that the soundtrack album for the documentary Living in the Age of Airplanes will be released digitally this coming October. The album features the film’s original music composed by James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, A Beautiful Mind, Aliens, Apollo 13). Terwilliger and narrated by Harrison Ford. The movie, which tells the story about how the airplane has changed the world and how it affected our society, premiered in numerous IMAX theaters over the last year and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in October. ‘The Land’ Soundtrack Details

the-landMass Appeal Records will release a soundtrack album for the indie drama The Land. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Nas (who also serves as a producer on the movie), Kanye West, French Montana, Pusha T, Jeremih, Machine Gun Kelly, Stalley, Fashawn, Dave East and Erykah Badu. The soundtrack will be released on July 29, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Land is directed by Steven Caple Jr. and stars Erykah Badu, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jorge Lendeborg Jr, Moises Arias, Rafi Gavron, Ezri Walker, Kim Coates, Linda Emond, Natalie Martinez and Colson Bake. The movie follows four teenage boys who devote their summer to escaping the streets of Cleveland, Ohio, by pursuing a dream life of professional skateboarding, when they get caught in the web of the local queenpin. the-good-placeDavid Schwartz has been hired to score the upcoming NBC comedy The Good Place. The show is created by Michael Schur (Parks and RecreationBrooklyn Nine-Nine) and stars Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, Jameela Jamil, William Jackson Harper, Manny Jacinto and D’Arcy Carden. The series follows a young woman from New Jersey who comes to realize that she hasn’t been a very good person and decides to turn over a new leaf by learning what it actually means to be “good” or “bad”. laura-karpmanComposer Laura Karpman has been elected to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 2016–17 Board of Governors. She joins Charles Bernstein and Michael Giacchino who are the other two governors of the branch. It will mark her first term serving on the music branch board. Karpman’s scoring credits include the 2009 feature The Tournament, 2013’s Black Nativity, the Steven Spielberg-produced mini-series Taken and WGN America’s Underground. The Stanford Prison Experiment is directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez and starrs Billy Crudup, Ezra Miller, Michael Angarano, Tye Sheridan, Johnny Simmons, Olivia Thirlby, Keir Gilchrist and Thomas Mann. The movie tells the true story of a Stanford University professor who, in 1971, cast 24 student volunteers as prisoners and guards in a simulated jail to examine the source of abusive behavior in the prison system. The film is directed by Paul McGuigan (PushWicker ParkVictor Frankenstein) and stars Annette Bening, Jamie Bell, Vanessa Redgrave, Julie Walters, Kenneth Cranham, Stephen Graham, Frances Barber and Leanne Best. The movie tells the true story of the young Liverpudlian actor Peter Turner who fell in love with the older Hollywood golden age actress Gloria Grahame.  Matt Greenhalgh (Control, Nowhere Boy) has written the screenplay based on Turner’s 1986 memoir of the same title. elena-of-avalorThe details of the first soundtrack release for the Disney Channel animated series Elena of Avalor have been revealed. The EP features seven tracks from the show, including the theme song performed by Gaby Moreno and Elena’s anthem My Time performed by Aimee Carrero, the voice of Princess Elena. The songs are written by series creator/executive producer Craig Gerber, songwriter/music director John Kavanaugh (Sofia the First), Emmy Award-nominated composer Tony Morales (Hatfields & McCoys) and touring musician and Latin music instructor Rene Camacho who serves as Latin music consultant. The soundtrack will be released on July 22, 2016 by Walt Disney Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The show stars Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Kofi Siriboe, Tina Lifford, Omar J. Dorsey, Dondré Whitfield, Timon Kyle Durrett, Nicholas L. Ashe, Greg Vaughan and Ethan Hutchison. The drama chronicles the lives and loves of the estranged Bordelon siblings in Saint Josephine, Louisiana who must navigate the triumphs and struggles of their complicated lives in order to run an ailing sugarcane farm in the Deep South. vice-principalsPremiering tonight is the HBO original series Vice Principals created by Jody Hill & Danny McBride who also stars in the show alongside Walter Goggins, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Georgia King, Busy Philipps, Shea Whigham and Sheaun McKinney. The comedy’s original music is composed by Joey Stephens who previously scored Hill’s feature Observe and Report starring Seth Rogen, as well as numerous episodes of HBO’s Eastbound and Down.
