Nasty Coda Records will release a soundtrack album for the sci-fi action adventure Beyond Skyline. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nathan Whitehead (The Purge series, Keanu, The Veil, The Remaining). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, December 22, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Beyond Skyline is written and directed by Liam O’Donnell and stars Frank Grillo, Bojana Novakovic, Jonny Weston, Yayan Ruhian and Iko Uwais. Daniel Pemberton has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming heist comedy drama Ocean’s 8. The film is directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit, Pleasantville) and stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter. The movie is a spin-off of Steven Soderbergh’s Oceans trilogy and revolves around eight women who plan and execute a heist in New York. Ross also co-wrote the screenplay with Olivia Milch (Dude). Academy Announces 70 Original Songs in Oscar Race

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has announced the short list of 70 songs that are in contention for nominations in the Original Song category for the 90th Academy Awards. During the nominations process, all voting members of the Music Branch will receive a Reminder List of works submitted in the category and a compilation of the song clips. Members will be asked to watch the clips and then vote in the order of their preference for not more than five achievements in the category. The five achievements receiving the highest number of votes will become the nominations for final voting for the award. A maximum of two songs may be nominated from any one film. Marco Beltrami has been hired to score the upcoming horror thriller A Quiet Place. The film is directed by John Krasinski who also stars in the movie alongside Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. The thriller follows a family living an isolated existence in utter silence, for fear of an unknown threat that follows and attacks at any sound. Krasinski also wrote the screenplay based on an earlier draft by Scott Beck & Bryan Woods. ‘Hostiles’ Soundtrack Details

The full details of the soundtrack album for the western Hostiles have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Taboo, Waltz with Bashir, Miss Sloane, Disconnect). Also included is the original song How Shall a Sparrow Fly written and performed by Ryan Bingham. The soundtrack is set to be released on CD on February 9, 2018 by Deutsche Grammophon and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. A digital version is set to come out on January 5 and will be available to download here. The film is directed by Derek Doneen and tells the story of how Kailash Satyarthi built a global movement to rescue children from slavery. Premiering tonight is the Fox holiday event A Christmas Story Live! starring Matthew Broderick, Andy Walken, Jane Krakowski, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ana Gasteyer, Ken Jeong and David Alan Grier. The television special’s music is composed by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen) based on their work on the Broadway musical of the same title. Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, December 18, is the BBC mini-series Gunpowder created by Ronan Bennett & Daniel West and starring Kit Harington, Liv Tyler, Peter Mullan, Edward Holcroft, Shaun Dooley, Robert Emms, Derek Riddell and Mark Gatiss. Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) (Lion, In Dubious Battle, The Current War) has composed the original music for the 3-parter.
