Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the National Geographic original series Mars. The album features the show’s original music composed by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Lawless, Hell or High Water, The Proposition). The soundtrack will be released on November 11, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Mars is directed by Everardo Gout, produced by Ron Howard & Brian Grazer and tell the story of a fictional astronaut crew on the very first human Mars mission in 2033. Will Bates is composing the original music for the new CBS medical drama Pure Genius. The show is created by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) and stars Dermot Mulroney, Augustus Prew, Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton and Brenda Song. The series revolves around a young Silicon Valley tech titan who enlists an exceptional veteran surgeon with a controversial past to run a state-of-the-art hospital with an ultramodern approach to medicine. Katims is also executive producing the Universal Television and CBS Television production with Michelle Lee and David Semel (Madam Secretary, Goliath) who also directed the pilot episode. The movie revolves around a woman whose daughter is murdered and then goes to war with the police in her hometown because she thinks they are not interested in pursuing justice. The Newton Brothers are reteaming with director Mike Flanagan on the upcoming thriller Gerald’s Game. The film starring Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Henry Thomas, Carel Struycken, Kate Siegel and Chiara Aurelia is based on Stephen King’s 1992 novel of the same title and . Flanagan also co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Howard. Trevor Macy (The Raven, The Cold Light of Day) is producing the project for Intreped Pictures. The Newton Brothers have previously collaborated with Flanagan on his previous four features, including Oculus, Before I Wake, Hush and Ouija: Origin of Evil and also scored Intrepid’s upcoming thriller The Bye Bye Man. Adam Peters is scoring the upcoming war drama Sand Castle. The film is directed by Fernando Coimbra (A Wolf at the Door) and stars Henry Cavill, Nicholas Hoult, Tommy Flanagan, Neil Brown Jr, Glen Powell and Logan Marshall-Green. The movie is set during the occupation of Iraq and follows a squad of U.S. soldiers who try to protect a small village. Chris Roessner wrote the screenplay based on his experience as a machine gunner in the Iraq Sunni Triangle. Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan, The Chronicles of Narnia, Steve Jobs) and Treehouse Pictures’ Justin Nappi (Arbitrage, All Is Lost, 99 Homes) are producing the project. Columbia Records has released the first two songs from the soundtrack for Theodore Melfi’s upcoming drama Hidden Figures. The tracks, Runnin’ and Surrender are written and performed by Pharrell Williams and the latter song also features vocals by Lalah Hathaway. Both songs are now available digitally. Trevor Morris has been tapped to score Marvel’s upcoming Netflix original series Iron Fist. The show is developed by Chris Buck (Dexter) based on the Marvel Comics property and stars Finn Jones, Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey and Rosario Dawson. The drama centers on billionaire Danny Rand who mysteriously returns to New York City 15 years after he was presumed dead and tries to reconnect with his past, but when a long-destined enemy rises, he turns to his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist. Buck is also executive producing the Marvel Television and ABC Studios production with Stan Lee and Jeph Loeb (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
