Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the biographical drama First Man directed by Damien Chazelle and starring Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Ciarán Hinds, Christopher Abbott, Patrick Fugit and Lukas Haas. The film’s original music is composed by Justin Hurwitz (La La Land,Whiplash). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening nationwide is the mystery thriller Bad Times at the El Royale written and directed by Drew Goddard and starring Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman and Chris Hemsworth. Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, Jurassic World, The Incredibles, Star Trek) has composed the film’s original score. Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein Scoring ITV’s ‘Butterfly’

Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (Stranger Things) have composed the music for the new ITV mini-series Butterfly. The show is created by Tony Marchant (Holding On, The Mark of Cain) and stars Anna Friel, Emmett J. Scanlan, Alison Steadman, Sean McGinley and Callum Booth-Ford. The 3-parter focuses on the complex relationship between two separated parents and their division in opinion over how to support their youngest child. Marchant is also executive producing the project with Nicola Shindler (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax), Caroline Hollick and Adam Kemp (Our Zoo). Read the rest of this entry »

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the fantasy action adventure  Scorpion King: Book of Souls. The album features the film’s original music composed by Frederik Wiedmann (Hangman, The Dragon Prince, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Acts of Vengeance, Field of Lost Shoes). Soundtrack Album for Facebook Watch’s ‘Sacred Lies’ to Be Released

Lakeshore Records will release the first soundtrack album for the Facebook Watch original series Sacred Lies. The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli (The Mist, Reprisal, Carnage Park, Darling). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 26, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sacred Lies is developed by Raelle Tucker and stars Elena Kampouris, Kevin Carroll, Kiana Madeira, Ryan Robbins and Toby Huss. The drama based on Stephanie Oakes’ novel The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly is modern reimagining of the classic Brothers Grimm fairytale The Handless Maiden and follows the journey of a girl who escapes a mysterious cult and finds herself in juvenile detention. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Russo (Fargo, Star Trek: Discovery, Legion, The Night Of, Mile 22, Snowfall, Counterpart). BMG has released a soundtrack album for the Netflix original movie How It Ends. The album features the film’s original music composed by Atli Orvarsson (The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Vantage Point, The Eagle, Chicago Fire). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. How It Ends is directed by David M. Rosenthal and stars Theo James, Forest Whitaker and Kat Graham. The full details of the soundtrack album for Marielle Heller’s comedy drama Can You Ever Forgive Me? have been revealed. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Jeri Southern, Blossom Dearie, Dinah Washington, Peggy Lee, Patti Page, Tank and the Bangas, Pixies, Chet Baker and Justin Vivian Bond. Also included is the film’s original score composed by Nate Heller who previously composed the music for the director’s The Diary of a Teenage Girl.
