French singer/songwriter and composer Emilie Simon has recently composed the original music for the upcoming crime comedy Going Places. The film is written and directed by John Turturro who also stars in the movie alongside Miou-Miou, Gérard Depardieu, Patrick Dewaere, Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou and Susan Sarandon. The movie is inspired by Bertrand Blier’s 1974 French film of the same title and stars Turturro as iconic bowler Jesus Quintana, whom he also portrayed in the Coen Brothers’ 1998 feature The Big Lebowski. Sidney Kimmel (Hell or High WaterThe Lincoln Lawyer), John Penotti (Uptown Girls), Robert Salerno (21 GramsA Single Man), Fernando Sulichin (Snowden) and Paul-Dominique Vacharasinthu are producing the project. ‘Gypsy’ Soundtrack Announced

Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Gypsy. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal  (House of CardsMonkPollockRomeAppaloosaAn Inconvenient Sequel). The soundtrack will be released digitally soon (check back on this page for the download link) and is now available to order as a limited edition 2-CD set on the label’s official websiteGypsy is created by Lisa Rubin and stars Naomi Watts, Billy Crudup, Sophie Cookson, Lucy Boynton and Karl Glusman. Premiering tomorrow, July 24, is the NBC drama Midnight, Texas developed by Monica Owusu-Breen based on the book series by Charlaine Harris and starring François Arnaud, Sarah Ramos, Arielle Kebbel, Peter Mensah, Parisa Fitz-Henley and Dylan Bruce. The show’s original music is composed by Jacob Groth (The Girl with the Dragon TattooDead Man DownUnforgettable). Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire127 HoursCouples RetreatThe Hundred Foot Journey) has composed the music for the new Netflix docu-series Daughters of Destiny. The show is directed by Vanessa Roth who received an Academy Award for her documentary short Freeheld in 2008 and follows five girls from India’s most impoverished families attend a boarding school designed to create opportunities as they strive for a brighter future. Jeff Russo has been hired to score the upcoming sci-fi drama Star Trek: Discovery. The show is set a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series and follows the crew of the USS Discovery during the Federation-Klingon cold war.The series stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, James Frain, Michelle Yeoh and Anthony Rapp. Alex Kurtzman (The Mummy, Now You See Me) and Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) are executive producing the CBS Television production with Heather Kadin (Scorpion, Sleepy Hollow), Gretchen J. We Are Dark Angels (aka Deantoni Parks & Nicci Kasper) are reteaming with director Paul Schrader on the upcoming drama First Reformed. The film is written and directed by Schrader (Taxi Driver, Raging BullAffliction) and stars Ethan Hawke, Amanda Seyfried, Michael Gaston and Cedric the Entertainer. Big Machine Records will release a new soundtrack album for the CMT original series Nashville. The album features more songs from the show’s fifth season performed by cast members including Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack and Lennon & Maisy, as well as Rhiannon Giddens. Wayfind Records will release a soundtrack album for the indie drama Menashe. The album features the film’s original music composed by Aaron Martin & Dag Rosenqvist. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 28, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Menashe is co-written and directed by Joshua Z Weinstein and stars Menashe Lustig, Ruben Nyborg, Yoel Weisshaus and Meyer Schwartz. The movie is set within the New York Hasidic community in Borough Park, Brooklyn and follows a kind but hapless grocery store clerk trying to maintain custody of his son after his wife passes away. Producer Jeph Loeb announced at Comic-Con today that Sean Callery is scoring Marvel’s upcoming TV series Inhumans and is recording his music for the project with a 70-piece orchestra. The show developed by Scott Buck (DexterIron Fist) based on the comic book series of the same title stars Anson Mount, Iwan Rheon, Serinda Swan, Eme Ikwuakor, Isabelle Cornish, Ken Leung, Ellen Woglom, Sonya Balmores and Mike Moh. The show explores the adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.
