WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack EP for the Teen Titans Go! mini-series The Night Begins to Shine. The EP features five songs from the 4-part event, including a remix of the title track by B.E.R. (aka Carl Burnett, Franklin Enea, & William J. Reagan), as well as new versions by CeeLo Green and the Japanese rock group Puffy Amiyumi. Lucasfilm announced today that John Powell will score the untitled Han Solo movie. The film is directed by Ron Howard who took over directing duties from Chris Miller and Phil Lord and stars Alden Ehrenreich in the title role, alongside Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo. Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi) and Jon Kasdan wrote the screenplay. Mariah Carey is recording an original song for Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming feature The Star. The song, entitled The Star, will also be featured on the film’s soundtrack album, which is set to be released by Epic Records. The Star is directed by Timothy Reckart and features the voices of Steven Yeun, Gina Rodriguez, Zachary Levi, Keegan-Michael Key, Kelly Clarkson, Anthony Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth, Tracy Morgan, Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey. Adrian Johnston is scoring the upcoming BBC drama The Child in Time. The movie is directed by Julian Farino (The Oranges) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Campbell Moore and Saskia Reeves. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Ian McEwan (Atonement) and centers around children’s author Stephen Lewis who struggles to find purpose in life following the disappearance of his daughter two years earlier. Stephen Butchard (The Last Kingdom) wrote the script is also executive producing the Pinewood Television and SunnyMarch TV production with Cumberbatch, Helen Gregory, Lucy Richer, Rebecca Eaton, David Boulter and Adam Ackland. Will Blair and Brooke Blair are reteaming with director Jeremy Saulnier on the upcoming thriller Hold the Dark. The film starring Alexander Skarsgard, James Badge Dale, Jeffrey Wright, Riley Keough and James Bloor is set in a remote Alaskan wilderness in which wolves have taken and killed children and follows a biologist who tracks down a young child. Saulnier also co-wrote the screenplay with the composers’ brother Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore). Motown Records will release a soundtrack album for Kathryn Bigelow’s dramatic thriller Detroit. The album features classic songs by Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell and Brenda Holloway as featured in the movie, as well as the original song It Ain’t Fair by hip-hop group The Roots and soul singer Bilal. Also included are two tracks from the film’s original score composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King KongThe Sixth SenseFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them). RCA Inspiration will release a new soundtrack album for the OWN original series Greenleaf. The album features the songs from the show’s second season performed by artists including Kayce Grogan-Wallace, Jekalyn Carr, Roshon Fegan, Mavis Staples & more. The Volume 2 soundtrack will be released on August 8, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Malaco Records has previously released the Volume 1 soundtrack. Greenleaf is created by Craig Wright and stars Keith David, Merle Dandridge, Lynn Whitfield, Kim Hawthorne, Gregory Alan Williams, Lamman Rucker, Tye White and Deborah Joy Winans. Stephen Warbeck has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Children Act. The film is directed by Richard Eyre (Notes on a ScandalIris) and stars Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci and Fionn Whitehead. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Ian McEwan (Atonement, On Chesil BeachThe Good Son) and follows an eminent High Court judge in London who is forced to deal with the case of a brilliant boy who, three months from his 18th birthday and still legally a child, is refusing the blood transfusion that will save his life. Adam Cohen and John Robert Wood are composing the music for the upcoming Psych: The Movie. The movie continues to the story of the USA hit show, which the composers scored from 2006 to 2014, and stars James Roday, Dule Hill, Corbin Bernsen, Kirsten Nelson, Maggie Lawson, Kurt Fuller who reprise their characters from the series. They are joined by Zachary Levi who will portray villain Thin White Duke, as well as Jazmyn Simon, Ralph Macchio and Charlotte Flair. The show’s creator Steve Franks is co-writing and directing the movie and also serves as an executive producer alongside Roday, Hill, Chris Henze and Kelly Kulchak.  Read the rest of this entry »
