Walt Disney Records has released the unused song Desert Moon written for Disney’s live-action adaptation of Aladdin. The song is written by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted) and features lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen). The song, which is featured in a deleted scene on the movie’s home video release, is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Also listen to the full track after the jump. The label has released a full soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie, as well as Menken’s score earlier this year. Aladdin directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar will be released on VOD August 27 and will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on September 10. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross to Score Pixar’s ‘Soul’

It was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo today that Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will be scoring Pixar Animation’s upcoming feature Soul. The film is directed by Pete Docter (Up, Inside Out, Monsters Inc.) and features the voices of Tina Fey, Jamie Foxx, Daveed Diggs, Phylicia Rashan and Questlove. The movie is being described as a “journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions.” Jon Batiste is also providing music for the film.
