Opening on VOD today is the thriller The Quarry co-written and directed by Scott Teems and starring Shea Whigham, Michael Shannon, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Bobby Soto and Bruno Bichir. The film’s original music is composed by Heather McIntosh (Compliance, Z for Zachariah, The Art of Self-Defense, 6 Balloons). A soundtrack album will be announced soon. The movie, which is based on a novel by Damon Galgut and centers on a fugitive drifter who – after murdering a traveling preacher – travels to a small town and poses as the man he killed, is being released by Lionsgate.

Also opening on VOD today is the comedy Bad Therapy directed by Bill Teitler and starring Alicia Silverstone, Rob Corddry, Michaela Watkins, Haley Joel Osment, Aisha Tyler, Sarah Shahi and David Paymer. Nathan Larson (Boys Don’t Cry, Dirty Pretty Things, Margin Call, Juliet, Naked) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. The move, which follows a couple who see a marriage counselor to improve their relationship, which brings their marriage to the breaking point, is being distributed by Gravitas Ventures. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the animated short Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alex Somers (Captain Fantastic, Honey Boy, Aloha, Manhattan). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon. Here We Are is directed by Philip Hunt, narrated by Meryl Streep and features the voice talent of Chris O’Dowd, Jacob Tremblay and Ruth Negga. The short is based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same title by Oliver Jeffers and follows a precocious 7-year-old who, over the course of Earth Day, learns about the wonders of the planet from his parents – and from a mysterious exhibit at the Museum of Everything. The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Justin Melland (Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, The Innocence Files, The Force, Dark Net). Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, The Orphanage, Crimson Peak, Hercules, Devil, A Monster Calls) has recently scored the new Showtime documentary The Longest War. The film is directed by Greg Barker (Manhunt: The Inside Story of the Hunt for Bin Laden, The Final Year) is a companion piece to the final season of Showtime’s Homeland and centers on the human stories and drama behind America’s involvement in Afghanistan, now the longest war in U.S. history. The movie will unpack the CIA’s long and morally complicated history in Taliban from the 1980s to the present through first-hand accounts of CIA officers and other U.S. key officials.
