Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, 1408, Cold Mountain) has been hired to score the upcoming Italian drama The Life Ahead. The film is directed by Edoardo Ponti and stars Sophia Loren, Ibrahima Gueye, Renato Carpentieri and Massimiliano Rossi. The movie is set in seaside Italy and follows a Holocaust survivor with a daycare business who takes in 12-year-old Momo, a Senegalese Muslim street kid who robbed her. Ponti also co-wrote the screenplay with Ugo Chiti (Dogman) based on Romain Gary’s novel La vie devant soi. Nicola Serra & Carlo Degli Esposti (Piranhas, Leopardi) are producing the project. The film is directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Ghost Rider, Daredevil, When in Rome) and stars Rachael Leigh Cook, Heather Graham and Damon Wayans Jr. The romantic comedy revolves around an earnest lawyer who – in order to save her small law firm – takes a high-paying case from a charming new client who wants to sue a dating website that guarantees love. Elizabeth Hackett & Hilary Galanoy (Falling Inn Love) wrote the screenplay based on the source material by Cook who is also producing the project with Dan Spilo (Back Roads) and Margret Huddleston & Stephanie Slack (Dangerous Lies). The film is written and directed by Francois Ozon (Swimming Pool, By the Grace of God, 8 Women, In the House) and stars Félix Lefebvre, Benjamin Voisin, Philippine Velge, Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, Melvil Poupaud and Isabelle Nanty. The movie follows 16-year-old Alexis who meets 18-year-old David on the coast of Normandy and feels that he has just met the friend of his dreams. Phoenix Music has released a soundtrack for the documentary Honeyland. The digital single features the film’s original music composed by Foltin and is now available to stream and download on Amazon. Honeyland directed by Ljubomir Stefanov & Tamara Kotevska is set in an isolated mountain region deep within the Balkans, where a beekeeper lives with her ailing mother in a village without roads, electricity or running water. The documentary, which received two Academy Awards nominations this year in both the Documentary and International Film categories, was released in theaters last summer by Neon and is now available on VOD and DVD. Plaza Mayor Company will release a soundtrack album for the Spanish sci-fi thriller The Platform (El Hoyo). The album features the film’s original music composed by Aránzazu Calleja (Bomb Scares, Birdboy: The Forgotten Children, No Controles, Taxi to Treasure Rock). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, June 12 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. The Platform is directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia and stars Iván Massagué, Antonia San Juan, Zorion Eguileor, Emilio Buale and Alexandra Masangkay. The 3-part drama centers the 2018 Novichok poisonings in Salisbury and tells the story of how ordinary people reacted to a crisis on their doorstep, displaying extraordinary heroism. 5 Cat Studios has released a new album featuring piano solos from DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon: A Hidden World directed by Dean DeBlois and starring Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harrington, Craig Ferguson and F. Murray Abraham. The album features nine tracks from John Powell‘s original score that were newly arranged and are performed by Batu Sener who provided additional music to the third installment in the How to Train Your Dragon series and collaborated with Powell on numerous other scores. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Apple Music/iTunes, where you can also check out audio samples.
