Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the sports drama F1 directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Damson Idris, Kim Bodnia and Tobias Menzies. The film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Inception, Dune, Gladiator, Interstellar, Pirates of the Caribbean, Man of Steel). Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by artists including Don Toliver feat. Doja Cat, Tate McRae, Ed Sheeran, Chris Stapleton, Tiësto, Dom Dolla, as well as a separate soundtrack featuring both the songs and Zimmer’s score today. Also opening wide this weekend is the sci-fi/horror sequel M3GAN 2.0 written and directed by Gerard Johnstone and starring Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Jen Van Epps, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Amie Donald, Aristotle Athari, Jenna Davis, Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp and Jemaine Clement. Chris Bacon (Wednesday, Heretic, Source Code, Men in Black: International, Gnomeo & Juliet, Bates Motel, 65, The Tick) has composed the film’s original music. Matthew Margeson (Kingsman, Rocketman, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Pam & Tommy, Eddie the Eagle, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile) is the composer of the upcoming Disney Jr. original animated series Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends. The show stars Mason Blomberg as Iron Man, Kapri Ladd as Ironheart, Aidyn Ahn as Iron Hulk,  Tony Hale as Ultron, Talon Warburton as Absorbing Man and Vanessa Bayer as Swarm. The Disney Branded Television production  follows the adventures of the Iron Friends (Tony Stark, Riri Williams & Amadeus Cho) who each have their own Iron Suits that allow them to fly and give them enhanced super-strength as they work together to solve problems and protect their city. Fourteen Kings Music has released a soundtrack album for the historical drama Unsinkable: Titanic Untold. The album features the film’s original music composed by Scott Glasgow (The Gene Generation, Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles, Cosmic Sin, Chasing Ghosts, Breach, The Curse of Sleeping Beauty, Hatchet III). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services. Also listen to the composer’s main theme below. Unsinkable is directed by Cody Hartman and stars Cotter Smith, Karen Allen, Fiona Dourif and Jayne Wisener. Walt Disney Records has released the theme song from the upcoming Disney Jr. animated series Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends. The track, entitled Totally Awesome, is co-written (with Peter Martin & John DeBold) and performed by Mark Hoppus, bassist, vocalist and founding member of pop-punk band blink-182, and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. The EP features four first songs from the show performed by the show’s cast, including One Little Spark & The Lies We Tell Our Hearts written by Honorary Academy Award winner Diane Warren (who also serves as an executive producer on the series), No Limits written by Chantry Johnson, KRD & Michelle Zarlenga, as well as Wolf Pack Energy written by Doug Rockwell & Tova Litvin. Mutant has released the second volume of the album Exotic Themes for the Silver Screen. The record features themes by Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, Star Trek, The Incredibles, Ratatouille), re-recorded and re-imagined (in the style known as Exotica) by himself. Among the titles featured on the second volume are themes from films such as Inside Out, Jurassic World, The Batman, Doctor Strange, Coco, the Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Zootopia, Jojo Rabbit, War for Planet of the Apes, Jupiter Ascending & Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as his directorial effort Werewolf by Night and his Marvel Studios Fanfare. Free Run Artists will release a soundtrack album for the dramatic thriller Ponyboi. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Cristobal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus, Utopia, Babygirl, Smile, The Girl with All the Gifts, The Third Day, National Treasure). Ponyboi is directed by Esteban Arango and stars River Gallo (who also wrote the screenplay based on his 2019 short of the same name), Dylan O’Brien, Victoria Pedretti, Murray Bartlett and Indya Moore. Lalo Schifrin (1932-2025)

Lalo Schifrin passed away today at age 93 of complications from pneumonia. The Grammy Award-winning Argentinian composer, best known his Mission: Impossible theme written for the 1960s TV series and used in the Tom Cruise-starring feature franchise, wrote numerous scores for film and television over a six decades-spanning career. He earned six Academy Award nominations for his scores for Stuart Rosenberg’s 1967 drama Cool Hand Luke, 1976 feature Voyage of the Damned & 1979 horror classic The Amityville Horror, Mark Rydell’s 1967 drama The Fox and Jeremy Paul Kagan’s 1983 comedy The Sting II and the original song People Alone from Joel Oliansky’s 1980 movie musical The Competition.
