Disney+ announced today that Christopher Willis is returning to compose the music for the streamer’s upcoming animated shorts series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. The show is produced by Disney Television Animation with Paul Rudish (Dexter’s Laboratory, Sym-Bionic Titan) serving as executive producer and supervising director. The series follows Mickey and his best pals – Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto – as they embark on their greatest adventures yet and will include stories inspired by various lands at Disney parks and cameos by classic Disney heritage characters. Leo Birenberg (Cobra Kai, Son of Zorn) has recently been scoring DreamWorks Animation’s new Netflix original series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. The show starring Paul-Mikél Williams, Jenna Ortega, Sean Giambrone, Raini Rodriguez, Ryan Potter and Kausar Mohamme follows a group of six teenagers who are invited to attend a state-of-the-art adventure camp on Isla Nublar and must band together to survive when the dinosaurs break out of captivity. The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the romantic comedy The Broken Hearts Gallery written and directed by Natalie Krinsky and starring Geraldine Viswanathan, Dacre Montgomery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Suki Waterhouse, Molly Gordon, Phillipa Soo, Arturo Castro, Taylor Hill, Ego Nwodim and Bernadette Peters. The film’s original music is composed by Genevieve Vincent (In the Key of Love, A Gift to Cherish). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Already playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday before premiering on Amazon Prime on September 18 is the documentary All In: The Fight for Democracy directed by Liz Garbus & Lisa Cortés about the issue of voter suppression in the United States. Gil Talmi (The Great Hack, Savannah, Desert Migration) has composed the film’s original score and Meshell Ndegeocello (Queen Sugar, Lackawanna Blues) has provided additional music. The movie also features an original song, Turntables co-written and performed by Janelle Monáe, which was released earlier this week.
