A behind-the-scenes look at the music for NBC’s sci-fi drama Revolution has been published today. The video features an interview with the show’s composer Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Hop, Supernatural), as well footage from the recording sessions of the score. The music is recorded weekly with a full orchestra at the Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage in Burbank. Revolution created by created by Eric Kripke, produced by J.J. Abrams and starring Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridako, Anna Lise Phillips, Elizabeth Mitchell, Zak Orth and Giancarlo Esposito recently premiered on NBC and was the network’s top-rated drama debut in several years, as well as this season’s highest rated new series. The show has already been picked up for a full season earlier this week.

NBC to Develop Music Dramedy with Diane Warren
Deadline is reporting that multiple Academy Award-nominated songwriter Diane Warren is teaming up with executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Smash, Hairspray, The Bucket List) to develop an hour-long musical dramedy show for NBC. Krista Vernoff (Grey’s Anatomy) is writing and producing the project. The series will feature the music catalog of Warren, who serves as a consulting producer. The dramedy centers on a 30-something songwriter who has written the most epic love songs of our time, despite, or perhaps due to the fact that she is painfully unlucky in love. Zadan and Meron have been friends with Warren for over a decade and previously worked together with her on the 1999 ABC musical Double Platinum, for which the songwriter composed an original song.
Terence Blanchard Scoring ‘Abducted: The Carlina White Story’
Terence Blanchard has composed the score for the Lifetime original movie Abducted: The Carlina White Story. The film directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall is based on the true story of the kidnapping of Carlina White, who was abducted as an infant by Ann Pettway from a New York hospital and solved her own kidnapping and reunited with her biological parents 23 years later. The movie’s cast includes Aunjanue Ellis (The Help), Keke Palmer, Sherri Shepherd and Roger Cross. Craig Piligian, Mary Martin and Alan Gasmer are executive producing the Pilgrim Studios production. Elizabeth Hunter (Jumping the Broom) has written the script.
‘Merlin’ Season 3 and 4 Soundtracks Released
MovieScore Media has released two new soundtrack albums for the BBC series Merlin. The albums include music from the third and fourth season of the hit show composed by Rob Lane (The Damned United), Rohan Stevenson, James Gosling and Michael Pawlicek. The soundtrack albums have been released digitally on October 2. Visit iTunes to download both albums for season 3 and season 4. A physical release for both albums is scheduled to come out on October 16. Merlin created by Julian Jones, Jake Michie, Julian Murphy and Johnny Capps is an update of the story of the infamous sorcerer of Arthurian legend. The fifth season of the series of 13 episodes is set to premiere on October 6 in the UK and in the US in January 2013 on Syfy.
Hans Zimmer Composes New Theme for ‘ABC World News’
Hans Zimmer has composed a new theme for ABC World News. It was the first time the music has been updated since the year 2000. The program anchored by Diane Sawyer on weekdays and by David Muir on weekends also debuted a new logo, graphics package in addition to the updated music this week. Lifetime’s ‘Liz & Dick’ to Feature Music by Lee Holdridge
Lee Holdridge has recently scored the Lifetime original movie Liz & Dick. The film center on the nearly 25-year relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, to whom she was married two separate times. Lindsay Lohan is portraying Taylor and Grant Bowler is playing Burton. Creed Bratton co-stars as studio chief Darryl F. Zanuck and Theresa Russell, David Hunt and David Eigenberg are also starring in the film directed by Llyod Kramer (David and Lisa). Christopher Monger (Temple Grandin) has written the script and Larry A. Thompson is executive producing the project. Liz & Dick is set to premiere this November on Lifetime.
‘Fringe’ Season 4 Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the new soundtrack release for the FOX sci-fi mystery series Fringe. The album features selections from the show’s original score from the fourth season composed by Chris Tilton. ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Soundtrack Released
20th Century Fox TV Records has released the first soundtrack album for the long-running hit comedy How I Met Your Mother. The album features the songs from the show performed by the show’s cast members Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Josh Radnor and Cobie Smulders, including the Emmy-nominated track Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit. Also featured is the comedy’s main title theme Hey Beautiful by The Solids. The soundtrack album, which is entitled How I Met Your Music, is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips from all 20 tracks on the release. How I Met Your Mother created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas is returned last night, September 24 for its eighth season and will be airing every Monday night on CBS.
Michael Andrews Scoring Fox’s ‘Ben and Kate’
Michael Andrews is scoring the new FOX comedy Ben and Kate. The show is created by Dana Fox (What Happens in Vegas, Couples Retreat) and stars Nat Faxon, Dakota Johnson, Lucy Punch, Maggie Elizabeth Jones, Echo Kellum. The series follows a pair of odd-couple siblings and their friends as they push each other out of their comfort zones and into real life. Fox is executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television production with Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Katherine Pope (Terra Nova). The trio is also executive producing the Fox hit show New Girl, for which Andrews co-wrote the title song. Jake Kasdan who has previously collaborated with the composer several times, including on the hit features Bad Teacher and Orange County and the TV show Freaks and Geeks, has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing.
