Owen Pallett is scoring the upcoming documentary Suited. The film is directed by Jason Benjamin and centers on Bindle & Keep, a Brooklyn tailoring company that is known for making custom suits for a growing legion of gender-nonconforming clients. Benjamin is also producing the project with Lena Dunham (Girls, Tiny Furniture), Jenni Konner (Girls), Carly Hugo (Higher Ground, Mother of George), Stacey Reiss and Ericka Naegle. Pallett’s previous scoring credits include Her, for which he received an Academy Award nomination, Richard Kelly’s The Box and Anton Corbjin’s Life, which was released in the U.S. earlier this month.

Dickon Hinchliffe to Score Ira Sachs’ ‘Little Men’
Dickon Hinchliffe has been hired to score the upcoming drama Little Men. The film is directed by Ira Sachs (Love Is Strange, Keep the Lights On) and stars Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Ehle, Paulina Garcia, Theo Taplitz and Michael Barbieri. The movie is set in Brooklyn and follows a two boys whose bond is tested by their parents’ battle over a dress shop lease. Sachs has also written the screenplay with Mauricio Zacharias and is producing the project with Lucas Joaquin (Complete Unknown), Christos V. Konstantakopoulos (Before Midnight, After the Fall), Jim Landé and L.A. Teodosio.
Josh Ritter Scoring John Krasinski’s ‘The Hollars’
Singer/songwriter Josh Ritter has composed the music for the upcoming indie comedy drama The Hollars. The film marks the second feature directorial effort of actor John Krasinki (The Office, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men) and stars himself, alongside Anna Kendrick, Margo Martindale, Richard Jenkins, Sharlto Copley, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Charlie Day. The movie follows a New York City artist who returns to his Middle America hometown on the eve of his mother’s brain surgery and. joined by his pregnant girlfriend, is forced to navigate the crazy world he left behind. Jim Strouse (Grace Is Gone, People Places Things) has written the screenplay. Krasinki is also producing the project with Tom Rice (The Way Way Back), Allyson Seeger and Ben Nearn (Mississippi Grind).
Jim Dooley Scoring ‘Fifty Shades of Black’
Jim Dooley is composing the score for the upcoming comedy Fifty Shades of Black. The movie is directed by Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) and stars Marlon Wayans, Kalli Hawk, Affion Crockett, Fred Willard, Mike Epps, Andrew Bachelor, Jane Seymour and Florence Henderson. The film is a parody of this year’s hit drama Fifty Shades of Grey and E.L. James’ novel of the same title. Wayans has also written the screenplay with Rick Alvarez (White Chicks, Littleman, Dance Flick). Both are also producing the IM Global and Baby Way production. Fifty Shades of Grey will be released nationwide on January 29, 2016 by Open Road Films.
Nicholas Britell to Score Gary Ross’ ‘The Free State of Jones’
Nicholas Britell has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming historical drama The Free State of Jones. The film is written and directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Pleasantville, Seabiscuit) and stars Matthew McConaughey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keri Russell and Mahershala Ali. The movie is set during the Civil War and tells the story of a poor Southern farmer who leads a group of anti-slavery Confederate deserters in Jones County and turns them against the Confederacy. Ross is also producing the project with Scott Stuber (Ted, Role Models, Identity Thief) and John Kilik (The Hunger Games series, Babel, 25th Hour).
Burt Bacharach to Score John Asher’s ‘Po’
Burt Bacharach has signed on to score the upcoming drama Po. The film is directed by John Asher (Dirty Love) and stars Christopher Gorham, Julian Feder and Kaitlin Doubleday. The movie tells the story of a recently widowed father struggling to raise his 10-year-old son who has autism. Colin Goldman has written the screenplay based on a story by himself and Steve C. Roberts. Asher is also producing the project with Rod Hamilton. Bacharach, whose own daughter Nikki struggled with Asperger’s Syndrome (high-functioning autism), agreed to let Asher use his song Close to You in the film and later, after watching the film, offered to score the film.
Toby Chu to Score Denise Di Novi’s ‘Unforgettable’
Toby Chu has been hired to score the upcoming dramatic thriller Unforgettable. The film marks the directorial debut of producer Denise Di Novi (Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Ed Wood, Crazy, Stupid, Love) and stars Katherine Heigl, Rosario Dawson, Isabella Rice, Simon Kassianides, Whitney Cummings, Robert Wisdom and Cheryl Ladd. The movie follows a woman who is struggling to start a new life with a new husband and his daughter but finds herself tormented by the man’s manipulative and mentally unstable ex-wife. Christina Hodson (Shut In) has written the screenplay. Di Novi is also producing the project with Alison Greenspan (If I Stay, The Best of Me) and Ravi D. Mehta (Grudge Match).
Fil Eisler to Score Dax Shepard’s ‘CHiPs’
Fil Eisler has been tapped to score the upcoming movie adaptation of the classic television series CHiPs. The film is written and directed by Dax Shepard and stars himself as highway patrolman Jon Baker, alongside Michael Pena as Frank “Ponch” Poncherello, as well as Kristen Bell, Rosa Salazar, Adam Brody, Jane Kaczmarek and Vincent D’Onofrio. The action comedy follows two California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers as they make their rounds on the freeways of Los Angeles. Andrew Panay (Wedding Crashers, Earth to Echo, When in Rome) is producing the project alongside Shepard’s Primate Pictures company (Hit and Run).
Brian Tyler to Score ‘Under the Gun’
Brian Tyler is composing the score for the upcoming documentary Under the Gun. The film is directed by Stephanie Soechtig (Fed Up) and centers around the mass shootings that have ripped across the United States, compounding an epidemic of gun violence in the country. The movie is told through the lens of the victims’ families, as well as pro-gun advocates. Olivia Ahnemann (Racing Extinction), Josh Kunau and Kristin Lazure are producing the project. Katie Couric who previously teamed up with Soechtig on Fed Up serves as an executive producer on the film. The movie marks Tyler’s first feature-length documentary assignment.
Trevor Morris to Score ‘Goon: Last of the Enforcers’
Trevor Morris has signed on to score the upcoming comedy sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers. The film is directed by Jay Baruchel and stars Seann William Scott, Liev Schreiber, Baruchel himself, Marc-André Grondin, Kim Coates and Alison Pill who are reprising their roles from the original movie. They are joined by Wyatt Russell and Elisha Cuthbert. Baruchel has also co-written the screenplay with Jesse Chabot. David Gross (Room, What If), Jesse Shapira, and Jeff Arkuss are producing the project for No Trace Camping, alongside André Rouleau (Delivery Man, An American Haunting) for Caramel Films.
