The film starring Alfre Woodard, Talitha Bateman, John Heard, Cloris Leachman, Jacinda Barrett, Dash Mihok and Jessica Collins is based on the young adult novel of the same title by Sarah Weeks and follows a 12-year-old girl who decides to take a solo cross-country trip and leave the safety of her home life with her mentally challenged mother and agoraphobic neighbor. Orien Richman is producing the Outside The Box and Branded Pictures Entertainment production with J. Todd Harris (The Kids Are All Right, Bottle Shock).

Matthew Margeson and Mike Higham are currently scoring the upcoming fantasy adventure Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. The score will be recorded in London within the next few weeks. The movie stars Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is based on the Ransom Riggs novel and follows a teenager who finds himself transported to an island where he must help protect a group of orphans with special powers from creatures out to destroy them. Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class, Kingsman: The Secret Service) has written the screenplay.

Gabriel Yared is reuniting with director Xavier Dolan on the upcoming drama It’s Only the End of the World (Juste la fin du monde). The film is written and directed by Dolan (Mommy, I Killed My Mother) and stars Marion Cotillard, Lea Seydoux, Vincent Cassel, Nathalie Baye and Gaspard Ulliel. The movie is based on a play by Jean-Luc Lagarce of the same name and follows a terminally ill writer who returns home after a long absence to tell his family that he is dying. Dolan is also producing the project with his producing partner Nancy Grant, alongside Nathanael Karmitz (On the Road, Certified Copy) and Sylvain Corbeil (Felix and Meira).
Deborah Lurie Scoring Dan Harris’ ‘Speech & Debate’
Deborah Lurie is reteaming with Dan Harris (screenwriter of X-Men 2 & Superman Returns) on the upcoming comedy drama Speech & Debate. The film marks the filmmaker’s second feature directorial effort and stars Liam James, Sarah Steel, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Austin McKenzie. The movie is based on the off-Broadway play of the same title by Stephen Karam (The Seagull) and follows a misfit trio of high school students who, frustrated by the hypocrisy of their authority figures, revive their school’s long since shut-down speech and debate club. Karam has also written the screenplay. Tom Rice (The Way Way Back, is producing the project for Sycamore Pictures.

Paul Hepker is composing the music for the upcoming drama Shepherds and Butchers. The film is directed by Oliver Schmitz (Life, Above All, Turkish for Beginners) and stars Steve Coogan, Andrea Riseborough, Garion Dowds, Deon Lotz, Robert Hobbs and Eduan van Jaarsveldt. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Chris Marnewick and follows the case of a prison guard in South Africa who is traumatized by the executions he’s witnessed. Brian Cox has written the screenplay and is also producing the project with Anant Singh (Pulse, Prey).

Bear McCreary has composed the music for the upcoming sci-fi mystery thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr. The movie is said to be related to Matt Reeves’ 2008 feature Cloverfield and follows a young woman who wakes up in a stranger’s basement after a car accident and is told her life was saved from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek, Super 8) is producing the project through his Bad Robots company with Lindsey Weber.

Steven Price has signed on to score the upcoming comic book movie Suicide Squad. The film is written and directed by David Ayer (End of Watch, screenwriter of Training Day) and starsJared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach and Viola Davis. The movie is based on the DC Comics of the same title and centers on a secret government agency recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency. Charles Roven (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel, Twelve Monkeys) is producing the project with Richard Suckle (American Hustle, Scooby-Doo).

Edward Shearmur has been tapped to compose the music for the upcoming comedy drama Elvis & Nixon. The film is directed by Liza Johnson and stars Michael Shannon as Elvis Presley and Kevin Spacey as Richard Nixon. Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville, Evan Peters, Tracy Letts, Sky Ferreira, Ashley Benson, Tate Donovan, Poppy Delevingne and Dylan Penn are co-starring. The movie tells the story of the infamous meeting between Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon in 1970, which was immortalized in the most requested photograph in the National Archives.
