Patrick Doyle has signed on to score the upcoming animated feature Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero. The film is directed by Daniel St. Pierre (Everyone’s Hero, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return) and tells the true story of Stubby, a stray Boston bull terrier, who forged a lasting bond with the men of the 26th “Yankee” Division at the onset of America’s involvement in World War I. Mike Stokey has written the screenplay with Richard Lanni who also serves as an executive producer. No voice cast has been announced yet.

Hybrid’s Charlotte Truman to Score ‘Interlude in Prague’
Charlotte Truman is set to compose the score for the upcoming drama Interlude in Prague. Truman who is known as a member of the Welsh band Hybrid will also serve as the music producer of the film, which will be directed by John Stephenson (Animal Farm) and star James Purefoy, Aneurin Barnard and Samantha Barks. The movie is set in 1787 and follows the story of a few turbulent months in the short life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart that influenced the creation of the opera Don Giovanni. Brian Ashby is writing the screenplay. Productive International’s Huw Penallt Jones (Chaos) and Hannah Leader (Lucky Number Slevin) are producing the project.
Randy Edelman Scoring ‘Back in the Day’
Randy Edelman has been tapped to score the upcoming boxing drama Back in the Day. The film is directed by Paul Borghese and stars William DeMeo, Alec Baldwin, Danny Glover, Mike Tyson, Annabella Sciorra, Shannen Doherty and Michael Madsen. The movie follows a young half-Italian, half-Puerto Rican boxer who lost his parents and is taken under the wing of the mafia in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. DeMeo has written the screenplay and is also producing the project. Edelman’s previous film scoring credits include such titles as Dragonheart, xXx, Gettysburg, Kindergarten Cop, My Cousin Vinny, The Mask, While You Were Sleeping and Ghostbusters 2.
Shigeru Umebayashi Scoring ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny’
Shigeru Umebayashi has composed the music for the martial arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. The composer of such films as House of Flying Daggers, The Grandmaster and In the Mood for Love collaborated with Lang Lang who performs piano solos on the score. The pianist was previously featured soloist on such movies as The Painted Veil, My Week with Marilyn and this year’s Kung Fu Panda 3. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny is directed by Yuen Wo-Ping (Tai Chi Master) and stars Michelle Yeoh who returns as Yu Shu-Lien, as well as Donnie Yen, Harry Shum, Jr., Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jason Scott Lee, Eugenia Yuan and Roger Yuan.
John Paesano Scoring ‘Brain on Fire’
John Paesano has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama Brain on Fire. The film is directed by Gerard Barrett (Glassland) and stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Thomas Mann, Tyler Perry, Jenny Slate, Richard Armitage and Carrie-Anne Moss. The movie is based on Susannah Cahalan’s Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness and follows a rising journalist at the New York Post who falls victim to an inexplicable illness that has her hearing voices, hallucinating, battling bouts of paranoia and lashing out during violent episodes before a last-minute intervention gives her the chance to rebuild her life.
Reza Safinia Scoring ‘The Trust’
Reza Safinia is composing the music for the upcoming dramatic comedy The Trust. The film is directed by Ben & Alex Brewer and stars Nicolas Cage, Elijah Wood, Jerry Lewis and Sky Ferreira. The movie revolves around two corrupt cops of the Las Vegas Police Department who discover a high bail receipt in connection to a drug bust and set in motion a plan to find the source of the money. Ben Brewer has also written the screenplay with Adam Hirsch. Molly Hassell (Edmond, Jackie & Ryan, Vamps) and Braxton Pope (The Canyons, Shrink) are producing the project.
Nathan Whitehead to Score Akiva Goldsman’s ‘Stephanie’
Nathan Whitehead has signed on to score the upcoming horror thriller Stephanie. The film is directed by Akiva Goldsman (Winter’s Tale, screenwriter of A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend & The Da Vinci Code) and stars Frank Grillo, Anna Torv, Shree Crooks and Kenneth Choi. The movie follows an orphaned young girl with unworldly powers who is taken in by a man and woman who claim to be her parents. Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski have written the screenplay. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Visit) is producing the project for his Blumhouse Productions company, alongside Matt Kaplan (The Lazarus Effect) for Chapter One, as well as Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Maze Runner) and Adrienne Biddle.
Jonathan Goldsmith to Score Jordan Roberts’ ‘Burn Your Maps’
Jonathan Goldsmith has been hired to score the upcoming comedy drama Burn Your Maps. The film is written and directed by Jordan Roberts (3, 2, 1…Frankie Go Boom, screenwriter of Big Hero 6) and stars Vera Farmiga, Jacob Tremblay, Virginia Madsen and Suraj Sharma. The movie is based on a short story by Robyn Joy Leff and follows an 8-year-old boy who believes he is actually a Mongolian goat herder born in the wrong place and befriends a similarly displaced Indian immigrant who decides it’s their destiny to connect the child’s dream to his reality through the use of crowdfunding. Courtney Solomon (Cake, Getaway) and Mark Canton (300, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Red Planet) are producing the Cinelou production with Patrick Aiello (As Above, So Below, The Double).
John Swihart to Score Jeffrey Blitz’s ‘Table 19’
John Swihart has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Table 19. The film is directed by Jeffrey Blitz (Rocket Science) and stars Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson, Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Merchant, Tony Revolori, June Squibb, Wyatt Russell and Amanda Crew. The movie follows a group of strangers who are marooned at the misfits table at a destination wedding. Mark & Jay Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home, Togetherness) have written the screenplay. Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Date Night, Cheaper by the Dozen) is producing the project for his 21 Laps Entertainment company, alongside Tom McNulty (The Spectacular Now, The Rocker) and Mark Roberts (In a World…).
Alexandre Desplat Scoring Vincent Perez’s ‘Alone in Berlin’
Alexandre Desplat has composed the music for the upcoming drama Alone in Berlin. The film is directed by Vincent Perez and stars Brendan Gleeson, Emma Thompson, Daniel Brühl and Mikael Persbrandt. The movie is based on Hans Fallada’s bestselling novel and follows an ordinary couple living in a shabby apartment block in Berlin during World War II. When their child is killed fighting at the front, their loss propels them into an extraordinary act of resistance. Perez has also written the screenplay with Achim von Borries (Good Bye Lenin!, Love in Thoughts) and Bettine von Borries.
