The film is directed by Vikram Gandhi (Kumare) and stars Devon Terrell, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Mitchell, Ellar Coltrane, Ashley Judd, Jenna Elfman, Fab Five Freddy and Danny Hoch. The movie explores the time when Barack Obama was a college student in New York City and forged key relationships, including with a fellow student. Novelist Adam Mansbach (Go the F**k to Sleep) has written the screenplay. Teddy Schwarzman (The Imitation Game, All Is Lost) and Ben Stillman are producing the project for Black Bear Pictures, alongside Dana O’Keefe for Cinetic Media and Gandhi.

The movie tells the true story of the young Liverpudlian actor Peter Turner who fell in love with the older Hollywood golden age actress Gloria Grahame. Matt Greenhalgh (Control, Nowhere Boy) has written the screenplay based on Turner’s 1986 memoir of the same title. The movie is based on the New York Times bestseller of the same title by James Patterson (Zoo, Kiss the Girls) and chronicles the trials and triumphs of Rafe Khatchadorian as he uses his wits to battle bullies, hormones and the tyrannical, test-obsessed Principal Dwight.

This week, Guillaume Roussel is recording his music for the upcoming thriller HHhH. Elvin Ross is reuniting with Tyler Perry on the upcoming comedy Boo! A Madea Halloween. The film is written and directed by Perry who also stars in the film, alongside Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, Lexy Panterra, Yousef Erakat, Andre Hall, Brock O’Hurn and Bella Thorne. The movie follows Madea as she winds up in the middle of mayhem when she spends a haunted Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens. Perry is also producing the project with Ozzie Areu (A Madea Christmas, Peeples).
Craig Armstrong Scoring ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’
Craig Armstrong is composing the original score for the upcoming comedy sequel Bridget Jones’s Baby. The film is directed by Sharon Maguire who previously directed the 2001 original film and stars Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, Patrick Dempsey, Jim Broadbent, Gemma Jones and Emma Thompson. The movie follows the title character as she finds herself pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is. Helen Fielding has co-written the screenplay with Thompson and Dan Mazer (Ali G Indahouse, I Give It a Year). Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Love Actually, Atonement, Rush, United 93) and Debra Hayward (Les Miserables) are producing the Working Titles Pictures production.

Theodore Shapiro is reteaming with writer/director John Hamburg on the upcoming comedy Why Him?. The film starring James Franco, Bryan Cranston, Zoey Deutch, Megan Mullally and Keegan-Michael Key follows a Midwestern dad who travels with his family to visit his daughter at college, and soon finds himself in a battle for her affections with her brash new tech billionaire boyfriend. Hamburg (Meet the Parents, Zoolander) has also written the screenplay with Ian Helfer (The Oranges).
Nicholas Britell Scoring ‘Moonlight’
Nicholas Britell is composing the original music for the upcoming drama Moonlight. The film is written and directed by Barry Jenkins and stars Naomie Harris, Andre Holland, Mahershala Al, Janelle Monae, Ashton Sanders, Trevante Rhodes, Alex R. Hibbert, Jaden Piner and Jharrel Jerome. The movie is based on the play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue by Tarell McCraney and follows a young man who comes of age during “War on Drugs”-era Miami as he battles a deteriorating home life and deals with his dawning sexuality. Adele Romanski (Black Rock, Bad Milo, The Freebie) is producing the project with Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.

Bear McCreary is composing the score for the upcoming animated feature Animal Crackers. The film is directed by Tony Bancroft (Mulan) & Scott Christian Sava and features the voice talent of Emily Blunt, Sylvester Stallone, Ian McKellen, John Krasinski, Patrick Warburton and Danny DeVito. The movie centers on a family whose life is turned upside down when they inherit a rundown circus and a mysterious box of Animal Crackers, which magically changes the person who eats them into animals. Sava has also written the screenplay with Dean Lorey (Arrested Development) who is also producing the Blue Dream Studios production with George Lee, Marcus Englefield, James Thomason and Leiming Guan.
