Julian Wass has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Fun Mom Dinner. The film is directed by Alethea Jones and stars Katie Aselton, Toni Collette, Bridget Everett, Molly Shannon, Adam Scott, Rob Huebel, Adam Levine and Paul Rust. The movie centers on four moms whose only common ground is their kids’ preschool class, who decide to get together for a harmless “fun mom dinner.” Julie Yaeger Rudd has written the screenplay. Andrew Duncan and Alex Saks are producing the project for June Pictures, alongside Naomi Scott for Gettin’ Rad Productions. Adam Scott and Paul Rudd serve as executive producers.

Dario Marianelli to Score Joe Wright’s ‘Darkest Hour’
Working Title Films and Focus Features announced today that Dario Marianelli will be reteaming with director Joe Wright on the upcoming historical drama Darkest Hour. The film stars Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill, alongside John Hurt as Neville Chamberlain, Lily James as Churchill’s personal secretary, Ben Mendelsohn as King George VI and Kristin Scott Thomas as Churchill’s wife, Clementine. The movie follows Churchill as he leads a charge against Adolf Hitler’s army in the early days of World War II. Anthony McCarten (Theory of Everything, Death of a Superhero) wrote the screenplay. He is also producing the project with Lisa Bruce and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Les Miserables, Frost/Nixon, Love Actually, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy).
Will Bates Scoring ‘Hot Summer Nights’
Will Bates is composing the music for the upcoming coming-of-age drama Hot Summer Nights. The film is written and directed by Elijah Bynum and stars Maika Monroe, Thomas Jane, Maia Mitchell, Emory Cohen, Timothee Chalamet, Alex Roe and William Fichtner. The movie follows a teenager whose life spirals out of control when he befriends the town rebel, falls in love, and gets entangled in a drug ring all during one hot, stormy summer. Bradley Thomas (There’s Something Wrong About Marry, Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal) and Dan Friedkin are producing the project for Imperative Entertainment.
Nicholas Britell to Score Jonathan Dayton’s and Valerie Faris’ ‘Battle of the Sexes’
Nicholas Britell is currently scoring the upcoming drama Battle of the Sexes. The film is directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks) and stars Emma Stone, Steve Carell, Elisabeth Shue, Andrea Riseborough, Austin Stowell, Alan Cumming, Sarah Silverman and Bill Pullman. The movie tells the true story of the competition between tennis pros Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs in 1973 when the No. 2 ranked King beat the 55-year-old retired former Wimbledon champion Riggs. Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty, 127 Hours) wrote the screenplay. Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, Steve Jobs) is producing the project with Christian Colson (Selma, 127 Hours).
Michael Giacchino to Score Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
Marvel Studios president confirmed during a Q&A this past week at the University of Southern California (USC) following a screening of Doctor Strange that Michael Giacchino will be scoring the studio’s upcoming feature Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film is directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car) and stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. The movie follows a young Peter Parker as he begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero. Feige (The Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor) is producing the project with Amy Pascal (Ghostbusters).
Gabriel Yared to Score Eric Styles’ ‘Bach’ Biopic
Gabriel Yared is attached to compose the score for the upcoming biographical drama Bach. The film is set to be directed by Eric Styles (Relative Values, Tempo, That Good Night) and will star Gérard Depardieu, Axel Milberg and Marianne Sagebrecht. The movie chronicles the life and passionate battles of the iconic German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Jeffrey Freedman has written the screenplay and is also producing the project with S. J. Evans (Dead of the Nite).
Chris Bordeaux to Score Gillian Robespierre’s ‘Landline’
Chris Bordeaux is reteaming with director Gillian Robespierre on the upcoming comedy Landline. The film starring Jenny Slate, Finn Wittrock, John Turturro, Edie Falco, Jay Duplass and Abby Quinn is set in 1995 Manhattan and follows teenager living with her sister and parents who discovers that her father is having an affair. Robespierre has also co-written the screenplay with Elisabeth Holm who is also producing the OddLot Entertainment and Route One Entertainment production with Gigi Pritzker (Drive, Rabbit Hole, Ender’s Game) and Russell Levine (Talullah, Colossal).
Rupert Gregson-Williams to Score ‘Wonder Woman’
Rupert Gregson-Williams has been hired to score the upcoming comic book movie Wonder Woman. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster) and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, Lisa Loven Kongsli and David Thewlis. The movie based on the DC Comics character tells the story of Diana, princess of the Amazons, who trained to be an unconquerable warrior. When she meets and American pilot and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, she leaves her home to stop the threat. Allan Heinberg (The Catch) and Geoff Johns (The Flash) have written the screenplay. Zack Snyder (300, Dawn of the Dead) is producing the project with Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven (The Dark Knight, Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice).
Nicholas Britell to Score Gary Ross’ ‘Ocean’s 8’
Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Nicholas Britell is set to compose the music for the upcoming heist comedy drama Ocean’s 8. The film is directed by Gary Ross (Pleasantville, The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit) and stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter. The movie is a spin-off of Steven Soderbergh’s Oceans trilogy, which was scored by David Holmes, and follows eight women who plan and execute a heist in New York. Ross also co-wrote the screenplay with Olivia Milch (Dude). Soderbergh (Traffic, Sex, Lies and Videotapes, Erin Brockovich) is producing the project with Jon Kilik (Foxcatcher, 25th Hour, Babel).
Gabriel Mann to Score ‘Humor Me’
Gabriel Mann has been hired to score the upcoming indie comedy Humor Me. The film is written and directed by Sam Hoffman and stars Elliott Gould, Jemaine Clement, Ingrid Michaelson, Bebe Neuwirth, Erich Bergen and Annie Potts. The movie follows a struggling playwright who moves in with his joke-telling dad in a New Jersey golf community. Hoffman is also producing the Fugitive Films production with Courtney Potts and Jamie Gordon (Wedding Daze, Scar).
