The rock band Eagles of Death Metal is currently recording the score for the upcoming comedy sequel Super Troopers 2. The film is directed by Jay Chandrasekhar (The Dukes of Hazzard, Beerfest) who also helmed the 2001 original and also stars in the movie with Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, Rob Lowe, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Brian Cox, Tyler Labine, Lynda Carter Will Sasso and Hayes MacArthur. No plot details have been announced yet, Chandrasekhar, Heffernan, Lemme, Soter and Stolhanske also co-wrote the screenplay.

Johann Johannsson to Score Panos Cosmatos’ ‘Mandy’
Johann Johannsson is attached to score the upcoming action thriller Mandy. The film will be directed by Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow) and is set to star Nicolas Cage. The movie is set in the primal wilderness of 1983 where a broken and haunted man hunts an unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life. Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller (Cooties, Camino) & Elijah Wood are producing the project for Spectrevision, alongside Nate Bolotin (The Raid 2) for XYZ Films and Adrian Politowski (Erased) for Umedia. The composer has previously scored 2013’s McCanick produced by Noah & Waller.
Carter Burwell to Score Simon Curtis’ ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’
Carter Burwell is scoring the upcoming biographical drama Goodbye Christopher Robin. The film is directed by Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn, Woman in Gold) and stars Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie, Will Tilston, Kelly Macdonald, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Alex Lawther. The movie revolves around the relationship between Winnie the Pooh creator A.A. Milne and his son Robin, who initially had a difficult relationship with his father, and served as the inspiration for the character of Christopher Robin. Frank Cottrell (The Railway Man, Millions) and Simon Vaughan (Watership Down, War & Peace) wrote the screenplay.
Harold Faltermeyer to Return for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’
Tom Cruise revealed in a recent interview with Access Hollywood that music by composer Harold Faltermeyer will be featured in the upcoming sequel Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise will return to star in the movie. Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion) is reportedly in talks to direct and Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Rock, Armageddon, Remember the Titans) and Skydance’s David Ellison (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Terminator Genisys) will be producing the project. Faltermeyer previously scored the 1986 film and was honored with a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for his Top Gun Anthem.
Mychael & Jeff Danna to Score ‘The Breadwinner’
Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna are composing the music for the upcoming animated feature The Breadwinner. The film based on young adult novel by Deborah Ellis is directed by Nora Twomey (The Secret of Kells). The movie tells the story of Parvana, a young girl living under the Taliban regime, who cuts her hair and disguises herself as a boy in order to provide for her family after her father is imprisoned. Anthony Leo and Andrew Rosen are producing the project for Aircraft Pictures, alongside Tomm Moore and Paul Young (Song of the Sea) for Cartoon Salon, and Stephan Roelants for Melusine Productions.
‘Walk Like a Panther’ to Feature Music by Guy Chambers
Songwriter and record producer Guy Chambers who is best known for his work with Robbie Williams will be working on the soundtrack for the upcoming British comedy Walk Like a Panther. The film is written and directed by Dan Cadan and stars Stephen Graham, Dave Johns, Jill Halfpenny, Sue Johnston, Lindsey Coulson, Julian Sands, Jason Flemyng, Stephen Tompkinson, Michael Socha and hip hop artist Scroobius Pip. The movie revolves around a group of ‘80s wrestlers who are forced to don the lycra one last time when their beloved local pub is threatened by closure.
Robert Miller Scoring Netflix’s ‘You Get Me’
Robert Miller has composed the music for the upcoming Netflix original movie You Get Me. The film is directed by Brent Bonacorso and stars Halston Sage, Bella Thorne, Jennifer Esposito, Nash Grier, Anna Akana and Taylor John Smith. The thriller follows a high schooler who gets in an argument with his girlfriend and lands in the arms of an out-of-towner girl. Ben Epstein (Happyland) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the Awesomeness Films production with Thorne, Brett Bouttier, Robyn Marshall, Marc Bienstock (Split, The Visit), Thor Bradwell, Brian Robbins (Smallville, One Tree Hill), Matt Kaplan (Before I Fall) and Nicki Cortese.
‘Small Crimes’ Soundtrack Announced
Wayfind Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Netflix original movie Small Crimes. The album features the film’s original music composed by Brooke Blair & Will Blair (Green Room, Blue Ruins, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore), as well as the song Conquista y Poder, a collaboration with Rei Alvarez of salsa legends Bio Ritmo (listen to the track after the jump). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 9, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Small Crimes is directed by Evan Katz and stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jacki Weaver, Robert Forster, Gary Cole, Molly Parker and Pat Healy. The movie follows a disgraced former cop who is released from prison and returns home looking for redemption but winds up trapped in the mess he left behind.
Will Bates & Chad Smith Scoring Netflix’s ‘CounterPunch’
Will Bates and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith have composed the original music for the upcoming documentary CounterPunch. The film is directed by Jay Bulger (Beware of Mr. Baker) and tells the true stories of a number of three young boxers at different stages of their career make sacrifices to pursue their dreams of becoming champions. Bulger is also producing the project. Mandalay Sports Entertainment is executive producing the movie.
Thomas Newman to Score Stephen Frears’ ‘Victoria and Abdul’
Thomas Newman has been tapped to score the upcoming period drama Victoria and Abdul. The film is directed by Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen, Dangerous Liaisons) and stars Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, Eddie Izzard, Adeel Akthar and Michael Gambon. The movie centers on Queen Victoria’s unlikely friendship with Abdul Karim, a young clerk, who travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) wrote the screenplay based on the book by Shrabani Basu. Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonment, Love Actually, Elizabeth) are producing the Working Title and BBC Films production with Beeban Kidron (Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason) and Tracey Seaward (The Queen, Dirty Pretty Things).
